Picked up the new car :)

Ok, Blue Flame exhaust has now been fitted, sound lovely :)

On start up when the revs go up/down with the Auto-Choke, you get a lovely rumble, then its silent when on tick over.

When your moving at a steady pace, theres no drone in the cabin at all, you wouldn't know it was aftermarket if you weren't told so! Put your foot down and you hear that gorgeous V6 rumble, coupled with the Pipercross Airfilter... provides quite a soundtrack :D

Couple more updates :)

Went across to Great Yarmouth for a week, covered 600+ miles and the car didn't miss a beat which was good, it was using about a tanks worth of fuel over 400 miles, what ever the MPG for that is!

When we were there my GF noticed an "oil patch" under the rear of the car, which i pretty much ignored because oil doesnt leak from the rear of the car :D

Anyway, it turns out i had a corroded brake pipe (actually, 2) that was leaking. Braking power was fine so i filled it up with fresh fluid and limped it home (didn't as that point realise it was leaking that much!

£250 later and i've had 2 new brake lines fitted, and a fresh MOT. All it needed was the brake lines and a headlight level adjusting. It had 2 advisories for "play" in an ARB link, and a "pitted" brake disk, so i'll get them replaced next week.

I've ordered a replacement jack point cover as on of mine is cracked, and i also have a de-cat on the way :)

That is a very nice Mondeo you have there! :)

The wheels and the aftermarket exhaust just finish it off I feel.

I am with Andr3w on the de-badge though, however given what you have said it no doubt looks better now than it would do with the badges on.

De-Cat is now fitted, *should* be ok with MOT's in the future because of the 2 pre-cats, although MSD Headers are quite tempting :(

The sound is very, very addictive... which costs a lot of pennies :D

Just picking this thread up. The idea was to get cheap wheels, but decent ones.

How much have you spent on parts and labour so far in addition to the price of the car, out of interest, to get it to the current point?

Bit of a delayed response but..

£250 for 5x wheels and 2x spare tyres (fitted myself)
£100 for springs (fitted)
£100 for exhaust (fitting was about £20 or so)
£60 for de-cat (fitting about £10)
£25 for short-shift (fitted myself)
£10 for Pipercross Air Filter (fitted myself)

Thats the cost so far, and it will be staying at that now apart from maintenance etc. Theres nothing else i want to buy for it/spend on it, i'm focussed on getting an ST220 at some point next year (probably Summer-ish time.)

Its been a great car so far, i actually really enjoy driving it and for some reason it gets a few looks when out and about in it!

Only other addition to the car has been normal sized plates, smaller ones failed MOT and TBH they did look silly.

Don't really remember being a Mondeo 'hater' but i wouldn't have ever bought one because i "wanted" one.

Priorities changed when i needed a couple more doors and some boot space, and the Mondeo ticked the most boxes, turned out to be a great purchase and a car i enjoy driving :)

I've got quite a bit of surface rust on the under-side of the spare wheel well, when it went in for the MOT they put some oil on it to repel the water, and i've got to give it a coat of waxoil/hammerite to keep it at bay as much as possible.

The rear arches are holding up well, only a couple of small spots of rust which i keep on top of as much as possible, but once it starts its inevitable that its going to spread, hopefully i can hold it off until i change it next year.

Apart from that and the usual small scratches/dents its in pretty good condition.

Just changed the gearbox oil in it, my hands stink of oil and the stuff that came out was black.

Fresh stuff is now in, and although owners have reported a more positive gear change, i'm yet to see/feel a difference. Peace of mind if anything, i suppose.

More maintenance stuff this week.

Its had an oil change, 4 new tyres and i've got the fuel filter sat in the boot waiting for a dry day.

Tyres were 205/40/17 and the new ones are what come standard on the ST200 - 215/45/17. The rear arches catch slightly when theres some weight in the back of the car, and if you look in the pictures the rear is a tasge lower than the front, so the old springs will be going on the rear to pick it up a little...

Next on the list is just more maintenance (spark plugs, leads, coolant etc).

I'm thinking of selling my ST220 but have decided to keep it for a while yet.

I may be more serious into selling next summer-ish time aswell so give me a shout ;)

Only thing that ever so slightly puts me off yours is the colour. I REALLY want one in Performance Blue. Other colours don't really seem to look as nice :(
