So i took the leap and finally switched the wheels on the car, i had the misfortune some time back of coming across some housebricks that appear to have been disguarded in the middle of a dark road by some local scab resulting in damage to all 4 wheels.

Buying rather than replacing the originals from toyota was ~£350 cheaper too and im pretty pleased with the result

check it out! :D

They look a million times better than the originals, i had the 17s that are a 6 wide spokes and at £200/piece including vat i wasnt going to buy 4 of those, i would have preferred to go for 18s but i used my existing tyres since they werent cheap either and had lots of tread

edit: heres what the originals looked like, image shamelessly stolen from pistonheads classifieds

Not a chance in hell is this true. Even crap OEM wheels look better than cheap aftermarket wheels.

Give us a pic of your old ones please!

See above mate, originals are dull as hell and cheaply made. One of the ones replaced had the coating blubbling and flaking really badly

cheaply made

Ive had the car ~5yrs now and replaced several of the originals individually, for £200/pc they were rediculously bad and were likely made of soft cheese under the coating as they buckled very easily from even small potholes i think the pain of that it tainted my view of them. For £200 id be wanting something significantly better than what id be getting. The only reason i didnt switch earlier is because replacing one is cheaper than replacing a set

the new ones are half the cost and i really do think they look a hell of a lot better. the only thing id have preferred more were OZ wheels and i couldnt justify the cost, it was done because i needed new wheels not because i was trying to make the car look cooler. If i had the money to waste on modding the car id be focusing on making it a better car, not a prettier one ;)

bit confused how your wheels were so knackered, yet tyres o.k.?

replacements look o.k. IMO, but think it would have been worth spending a bit extra for a better make etc. if you think the OEM's were soft then i am sure these will be as bad/ worse as it often the case with cheap wheels. the devil is in the detail as well, which if often what you pay for on decent wheels. :)

Going to sound weird but the new wheels look OK on the back but look out of place on the front, net result for me anyway is that they don't look right - but I've seen much worse.

Well i cant believe all of you dont like them, not one person who has seen them on the car thought the old ones were better so maybe they dont come across so well in that pic.

Pffft nm, at least i never had those horrible 5 spoke 15" cheapo things that came on base model celicas
