Tv License

BBC is 11.88 a month and has a huge amount of new content on daily (radio as well as TV), most of it sourced in the UK, and no advertising as such

Sky is £16.50 a month and has 99% repeats across the channels that gets you...(and what is new is usually from the US), plus advertising ;)

The fast forward through adverts isn't strictly accurate as it requires a receiver with the capability (Sky+ or HD), as opposed to being available on every box (Freeview PVR boxes can have the same capability to FF through adverts).

MAYBE..but you can't Stop your subscription to the BBC like you can VM/Sky can you now?
so it's forced upon us all even if we dont want it.

Who are these millions you speak of?
The bbc is crap its just another way to tax the UK.

The (something like) 80% of the population who on average watch 7-8 hours a week, the millions who tune in daily to various programmes...
Unless BARB's figures are completely out of whack (which would be odd as most of the industry use them).

Yea I know :)

I'm using a Humax PVR on Freeview and it does all I want it to really.

The £11.88 VS £16.50 was an interesting point I'd read elsewhere.

Tbh the best value-for-money setup these days is stick up a Sat Dish, get a Freesat HD PVR/Tuner and have 147 channels for the standard license fee (and more if you tune them in manually).

best way get a good BB and watch everything online, and dont pay the tv tax.

Why are TVLicensing allowed to harass people who do not own a TV? I know of no other Licensing agency who harasses people who have no Licence for anything else.. Imagine the uproar if the Environment Agency started sending threatening letters every Month to everyone without a Rod Licence, even if they don't own a Rod. Who the hell do TVLicensing think they are?

No TV for 10+ Years and TVLicensing have me down as public enemy number one, for something I don't have or even need. I'm sick to death of the harassment from them, I can't believe they are Legally allowed to operate the way they do

I agree, their methods have a lot to be desired. You could take legal action against their harassment.

Thing is though its not really £11.88 vs £16.50 its more like £11.88 vs £16.50 + the TV license. Also lol at mattheman I dont know who is more brainwashed me for watching the government propoganda or him for thinking that most of what is shown on TV is government propoganda. Does your tinfoil hat also deflect any equipment that could be used to see if you are watching TV without a license?

Do I really need to quote you viewing figures for Top Gear, The Apprentice etc?

Like any tax. Stop whinging.

I can think of better things to spend the BBC’s £3.6 billion(yes billion) television licence revenue.

And I see the that they are hiding there expenses AGAIN..
wast of public money.

Aslong as you're not using it they can't demand anything.

If they come to your door tell them to **** off.
If they anyone calls you up DONT give them your name.
Make sure everyone in your house is aware of the procedure.

Don't let them know who lives there, their initial letters will say 'to the occupier' or some shizzit like that.

see I just dont understand this 'attitude'

when did people become so awkward and confrontational

I would invite them round, let them have a look, make the enforcement officer a cuppa and have a chat....people are just doing a job so why be nasty about it..a little bit of politeness can make somebodys day at work

I just cannot abide rude people who are mean spirited and obstructive just for the sake of it

As far as I know TV Licensing as an organisation are generally awkward and confrontational before the enforcement officer becomes part of the equation. After threatening letters et al it's not surprising that some people would rather tell them to **** off than invite them in for a cup of tea.
