How do I 'get rid' of an old car? who do I call?

She wants to talk about it at the weekend, she'll probably have it if you still have it.

Quickest way would be to ebay it mate, put it on 3 days at 99p and see what it goes for. Ive got rid of countless cars this way and usually got 100ish quid for them as a little bonus :)

If not, i will be in touch at the weekend, i'll keep an eye on this thread to see what you end up doing.

If you just "want it gone" do what a mate did with his old mini - park it in a town center car park with the windows down and the keys in the ignition. Two hours later, it was gone and reported it stolen to the police. Job done and never saw it again.

someone definitely profited there! ;) old minis are worth a fortune considering their age :p

Chain it with a pushbike lock to the nearest lamppost, then turn around and count to 5, when you are done, look back and be amazed that it is gone!

EBAY - 3 day auction. Must collect before 1st of July.

No reserve. Someone will probably buy it for Bangers :)

Yep do this.

I sold my old Pug 406 with no MOT on there, got £370 for it in the end.
The buy buying it exported cars over to somewhere in eastern Europe.

Dont you fancy getting 2 grand for it ?

If you're talking about the scrappage scheme, that's the worst reply to this thread so far.

That's like my wife saying shes just earnt us £100 today because the new shoes she bought were £200 instead of £300.

and with that £100 we saved, I bought this smashing new blouse :D

I'll wash it tonight and try ebay :)

Phone your local fire station (not on the emergency number!) and see if they want it for practicing with?

Need to get rid of my old Vectra, it works 'fine', but the MOT is up for renewal and it would need at least two new front tyres to pass. The tax disc is up for renewal on the 1st of July

Quite frankly, going by prices on pistonheads, I'd be lucky to get 200 quid for it, given the rust to the bodywork

So it's not worth the bother of getting new tyres, MOT and 6 months tax, just to sell it for around the same price

I have nowhere to keep it off the road

Should I try and sell it to a few local garages? or can I just call the council to come and collect it?

Thanks in advance..

At least 2 front tyres? so the 3rd front tyre is OK then? :D

To get rid of it, drive it to a scrapyard, or call one and have them pick it up. You will probably get some £ either way.

But, as a rule, anything with a decent length of MOT on it is worth a pony. Don't put any tyres on it, but put it in for an MOT, if the tyres are the only thing wrong, I'd have some fitted, retest the same day and sell it.
