I enjoyed this film when I saw it. Obviously, as is the trend, I was immediately inundated with requests to read the book. So I did. Ruined the film for me.

It wasn't too bad in the film - normally, the fine details being brushed out saps the substance out of the story. But I really could have got by without knowing what a weak & vacillating character what's-her-name was. I mean Jesus, is there a soul in fiction more pathetic? And Edward - must it be said every couple of paragraphs how beautiful he is? The whole thing seems like a desperate recollection of jilted teenage love, and reeks of the author's self-pity.

If you haven't ever read the book, don't do it. Unless you enjoyed The Da Vinci Code. Then go ahead.

The books aren;t that good, but the film was bloody awful! Terrible acting, just unbelievably bad. Why must they all talk with 1 word then pause then next word then pause and next word and pause. Ugggg just so bad.

I read the book, and then wanted to watch the movie, to the missus watched the movie with me and thought it was ok, then she went and read all 4 books back to bacl. I could only stomach 2 and a bit books, might read the 3rd now i have had a break

Oh And don't even get me started on how mis-cast Rosalie was! Who was she banging to get that role!

This is currently the worst fil I've seen this year, and I've seen Mega shark vs. Giant Octopus !!

It reeks of being written by some love sick teenage girl, I was shocked to hear the author is actually middle-aged but not shocked at all to hear she's mormon, their values are all over the sodding thing.

And **** me calling her his heroin ! **** off that's exactly what these teens would LOVE to hear. Hate this pandering bs

True Blood the TV show and the Southern Vampire Mysteries books are 100 times better than twilight.

The problem your experiencing is that the books were written to be read by young teenage girls not guys in there 20's.

Yea I watch True Blood and love it.

Another annoyance I have is that the author decided to re-invent the vampire, why ??!?

The books are the best, the first one is a bit slow, but the others are great.

You mean Mayer? Cos she is a fud? I mean what kind of vampire doesn't have fangs?!?!

You know she couldn't go to the MTV movie awards where Twilight won loads, because it was on a Sunday and mormons can't do anything on a Sunday lol

true blood > twilight

twilight and the books make it blatantly obvious the woman read sookie stackhouse books and watched buffy the vampire slayer.

decided to rob them both and turn it into something teenage girls who are stupid will like

Yea the fangs are annoying as hell, but I took bigger offence to sunlight not hurting them ! Ohh and that each vampire has an additional power

The movie sucked, and most of my female friends are obsessed with the books and Edward, which is sad as they are all in their mid-twenties, lol!

Oh yeah, forgot about that lol they live in 'dull places' so they stay in Alaska where it is bloody bright due to all the snow and sun!!!!!!!!!

I thought the film was alright. Memorable yet somehow lacking.

My sister (late 20s and married) loves it though. After seeing the film she bought all the books. Has read most of them twice now.

I have little desire to read the books.

I've got Kristen Stewarts msn address. She says the 2nd film is better than the first :)

Only read half the first book and i preferred the film. I thought it was alright :o

Its not about re-inventing, its about her idea of what a Vampire is. The interview in the bonus material, she says that she doesn't understand why an immortal creature needs to be unconscious for a big part of the day? It made no sense to her. So they don't sleep, same with the sunlight thing, how can they be so strong, yet can't with stand the sun (when mere humans can). But then, she need a reason why the myth that vampires only comes out in the night. So the skin gives away who they are makes sense (in her world of vampires).

I like the books AND the movie, I thought it was really good !

BTW, it's more a love story between Bella and Edward, than a vampire story.
