My Z4 has the computer that tells you how many miles until your next service is due, it changes depending on your driving style.

I've managed to get it down to 100 miles before my Inspection II service (the big one).

Im guessing I won't be able to get it into BMW for a service within the week so will end up going over. How much of a bad thing is this?

Worst case scenario is I can park the car up and use a spare one for the week. I'd rather not do this though while the sun is out :o

As far as I know it's based on your average MPG so it's hardly accurate. The engine isn't going to blow if you go a mile over it. I went about 300 miles over mine on the last service without issue.

Thats probably what I will be over by the time they get me in and a courtesy car (:() available.

IIRC anything up to 1,000 miles over is ok and BMW won't mention it.

Thats good to know, thanks :)

The brakes will overheat and the red paint will catch fire. :o

That would just make your day wouldn't it :D

I had a 320 in South Africa. It had 1000Km left till service when I picked it up. I did ~6000km before I dropped it back.

I dumped a litre of oil in it for peace of mind when the oil meter hit Min. It didn't blow up, kill me (or anyone else) or otherwise fall over in any way.

It also was a rental so.. take what you will out of this :p
