OK this is a blatant spin off. Which famous people do you remember passing away and where were you.

I remember hearing Prince Diana had perished in a car accident, I was actually in bed listening to the radio.

I remember hearing John Peel had gone, I was in my on my own in my dad's car. I was sat at some traffic lights on the A46 in Stroud.

I also remember being very young (3 or 4) and seeing picture of the devastation at Chernobyl. I think it's my second earliest memory.

So where were you when JFK was killed?

I remember getting up early to watch kids tv on the weekend when Diana died, obviously it was just news on all 4 channels so I went upstairs woke up my mum and dad to tell them, they didnt believe me till i dragged them down stairs.

Dont know why I remember that, dont remember any other 'where were yous', just one of these random childhood memories.

EDIT: you wrote Prince Diana :p

When Jacko died? Washing up.

Twin Towers fell when I was in town and fell over an old lady's trolley thing (true).

I woke up to find Di had died

Most of the others watching the news e.g. Fall of USSR & Berlin Wall etc.

Half remember the Twin Towers, didnt hear about it till I got home from school (happened afternoon UK time didnt it) and wondered as I walked infront of my house why my mum and sister were watching TV with such focus.

I can remember where my sister was for some reason, she and her friends where joking around during a free class when the school pool 'life guard' walked past and shouted at them telling them they shouldnt be laughing at a time like this....he didnt say why though.

I remember when Diana died, it was early morning and I was watching Catoon Network, it was announced on there to turn to Sky News for an important announcement.. so out of curiosity I did and I instantly went upstairs and woke my Mum.. she was in tears :(

When Jacko died I was most likley answering the radio at work lol

Twin Towers.. at school.. didn't learn of it till I went over my mates house to play Soul Caliber 2..

Princess Di, I was at home, it was the first thing I saw on Channel 5 actually.

Twin Towers, I was traveling to an NUS Services Limited conference in Wolverhampton, got a call and we didn't believe it until we put the radio on.

Twin towers - out to dinner on a belated birthday celebration with my GF (now wife).

Diana - woken up by my mum on the Sunday morning it happened. I was like *shrug* and went back to bed.

MJ - errrrrm, on here. :p

Queen Mother - On holiday with the wife's family. YAY FREE DAY OFF WORK TO 'MOURN'!! Ahem.

Strangly this was the same for me! Tintin on c4 was the first thing to break the deadlock of watching a car prat about on the m1 or something.... (yeah my dad rang up the bbc to complain that they were putting the same stupid thing on 2 channels.... and yeah my parents really didnt care much for the royals and went to the pub instead of get excited at the wedding thankfully)

Urm twin towers i was at school for and came home to someone shouting the towers have gone down! Not overall that exciting

MJ watching have I got news for you re-run with brooker.

People die every day, its a bit sad, but theres only a few that are really going to be ones that change the world (jfk, fdr, thatcher for a less positive reason....) but not many from our life time.....

Exactly the same for me for the first part. I've only ever seen that when Diana and the Queen Mother died. My dad came downstairs and found out, went upstairs and told her but she didn't believe him, he was a git for telling her famous people she liked had died. Of course, she actually had.

Twin towers, we were sat in the cinema room at my college and ended up watching it all unfold on the news channel. Fairly sure we had the afternoon off because of it...

Same. Same. Scary.

I think for the most part, I was probably thinking of funny things to say, I do remember 11/9 as I was on my way home and heard it and didn't believe it, and then was annoyed at all the telly channels showing nothing but repeats of the planes crashing.

Because back at that age the only thing important at that time of day was kids tv and when somthings wrong who you gonna call ghost bu...your mummy :D think i actually sat n watched the news for a good while, while checking the radio times listings, hoping it'd go back to the proper schedule :(

I remember when Diana died...

I read it on teletext news....I read it as saying that she had died in a car wash and ran up stairs to tell me mum, don't know why I read it as car wash LOL.

Princess Diana.

It was my brothers birthday and I walked into the lounge to watch him open all his presents and my family were all glued to the TV.
