Where were you when.......

The death of a famous person that I remember the most is Jill Dando, because I heard about it over the net just a few mins after it happened. I was at college at the time.

I remember getting up early to watch kids tv on the weekend when Diana died, obviously it was just news on all 4 channels so I went upstairs woke up my mum and dad to tell them, they didnt believe me till i dragged them down stairs.

Ditto; was something on ITV - Power Rangers?

9/11 - I had just got back from Athletics at School
7/7 - I was in Monaco

Twin towers - In a building opposite Reading railway station doing a gig for an American IT service company.

Diana - In my flat in Bristol while doing a gig for a French IT service company.

MJ - Watching Question Time, and then getting a text from my gf

Queen Mother - No idea

Princess Diana - Getting in from a rather messy night out to find my mum watching it all on telly in the morning.

Twin Towers - On my lunch break in the Sony Centre watching it on lots of large tellys. Then for the rest of the day at work and then having to run round like a headless chicken as the company I work for had infrastructure over there.

Although those didn't compare to getting in from my 18th Birthday night out and having my Dad tell me that his dad had just died.

When Princess Diana had that car crash I was about a mile away from the scene of the accident, with my sister, who was visiting us in Paris at the time, and my girlfriend (who is now my wife).

When those planes crashed into the Twin Towers (I know it's not a celebrity, but someone else mentioned it) I was at work... having a migraine.

I found out Karen Carpenter died when I was watching Breakfast Time with Frank Bough and Selina Scott.

Was at the pub when someone told me Kurt Cobain had shot himself.

Was fixing my son's bike when I found out Micheal Jackson wouldn't be touring again after all.

princess- im not sure but i did attend the goodbye thing
twin towers- i was at school

london bombings- The trains were packed so i decided to take bus to school (first time). Took the wrong one and soon after hearing about the bombs i had to walk all the way home....in tears.

MJ- i think i was skating :o

Twin Towers i found out after school, i wanted to watch Hey Arnold but my mum put the news on.

I heard about Princess Diana the next morning, Sunday i think? My family and I were driving to my Grandparents and they were playing funeralesque music on all the radio stations.

7/7 i found out in the morning, and i ended up going to college really late as my mum went to London on that day and we were worried about her. So we all stayed at home till we had word she was ok.

MJ. I was in the pub with a friend and she got a text from her friend saying it. I thought it was a hoax. On the way back from the toilet i saw the tv screen which was playing Sky News. I left my phone in the car by accident and had loads of missed calls and messages telling me what had happened. :( :(

I was in school for 9/11 some fella tried to convince me that two planes had knocked down the twin towers. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and I calmly explained to him that it didn't happen (I didn't believe him). I elaborated on the importance of sources and how rumors start. My big preach lecture to him lasted a quarter of an hour.

Two minutes later I turned on the TV and face palmed myself.

Came back from the local pub at the holiday caravan park with my parents when the news was going on real-time about Diana's death.

Just about to leave to open a student bank account in the village when the 9/11 coverage started. Met a mate on the walk down and had a laugh about it. I've grown up since.

Twin towers - Working at Bowers and Wilkins speaker factory when we were all asked to stop what we were doing and to listen to the news bulletin about terrorist attacks.

Diana - late night news in the background.

Princess Diana, paying off the Parisian panel beater getting my white Fiat Uno fixed in the early hours of the morning

Princess Dianna - In my front room getting ready for work.

Twin Towers - At work, heard on the internet.

Michael Jackson - At work, heard on the internet.

See a pattern?

Ayrton Senna. I was in the paddock at a sunny warm Snetterton. The entire day went sour and the mood turned extremely grim. Never will forget it, so soon after Ratzenberger on the same weekend.

09 11, at home working. Remember thinking for a while it was a movie or something. Then I switched out to CNN and it all became clear very quickly and horribly. That day left a mark on so many people.

Farrah Fawcett, whilst I was reading about Michael Jacksons death. Yup, we lost Farrah to cancer yesterday too.

Diana, got up early to feed my then baby daughter, was on my Playstation and got a glimpse of it on the TV when I briefly turned off the PS.

The PS stayed off that morning, I was glued to the box.

09/11 Parked on the A127 having a break, dozed off hearing a light plane had crashed into one of the towers, woke up about 40 minutes later to realise that it was far from that initial report.

Jacko, Radio 5 started reporting he'd had a heart attack around 11PM, I was delivering to Tesco @ Wrexham.

About an hour later, the news was confirmed. I was driving up the A483 towards the A55.

i remember senna, i was at my old mans house in awe of the situation

9/11 i was at home, i remember ringing my mother when the second plane hit. I had been to NY a fews before and went back in 2002. I remember holding back all my emotions entering world trade fair station for the first time.
