Just had this while playing ARMA2, dont think it's necessarily because of ARMA2 though...

"A thread tried to release a resource it did not own"

I've had a couple of Blue Screens since building this new PC about a week ago, both while gaming - once with ARMA2 (the one in the pic) and once with L4D (that one was for a 'page fault' or something).

New Build: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz @ 3.80GHz, Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P, Corsair XMS3 DHX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3, 512Mb 8800GTS, Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer, 1x500Gb SATAII, Titan Fenrir Cooler, OS is 32Bit Win XP SP2, Nvidia driver version 185.85 and I'm running Bios Version "F4G". Currently running off a 480W Tagan PSU because my new 650W Corsair PSU died and went back as an RMA, not had a replacement yet.

Temps are okay'ish I think, they are around 40-45c idle, and peak at about 60-65c under load.

Any pointers on what I can do to find out what's going on here?

Are you sure your overclock is stable? Do you get the same errors when running at stock speeds?

Oh, and your sig is too big I'm afraid.

If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels.

PK!

Well it was one of those bundle packs from OcUK, which was oc'd for me. I'll try it at stock and see how it goes... also, hopefully I'll get another PSU next week.

I'll run that memory test as well.

... and sort my sig :p

Have you googled the stop code?

Yeah, not really found the same explanation twice though.

I'm just looking for tips really on what to do to debug and fix, as I'm not really much of a PC builder... but I'll try the suggestions above and see what happens.

Looks like you lot were right, as usual... ;)

I've reverted back to stock speeds and, touch-wood, things seem to be stable now. I played ARMA2 for a good few hours tonight and it didn't crash once, let alone cause a blue screen.

Also, I cleaned the CPU, took off the generic thermal paste that came with the Titan Fenrir cooler, and applied some new Arctic Silver 5 instead - the temps are looking much better now : 30-35 when idle, and peaking at 40-42 on load (was floating around the 60-65 mark with the overclock, and did hit 72 once).

I've got my replacement 650W Corsair PSU arriving on Monday or Tuesday, so that should help as well.

So hopefully that's that sorted!

Cheers dudes.
