Where were you when.......

Princess Diana - Had come in from the pub late and switched on the telly to see what was on, nothing as usual, read the teletext report about the car crash and then found out she had actually died the following morning.

9/11 - Was only a few days into working for EDS in Leeds when started getting complaints about internet & network slowdown, found the internet pipe maxed out so looked in the logs to see where people were visiting. Had a look myself and got the news feed.

Chernobyl - Arrived at school in the morning, we all got sent home for fear of a radioactive fall out, personally i just think the teachers wanted a day off.

MJ - Lots of joke texts from mates started arriving at 7am this morning, wondered why all the jokes about his demise so had a quick browse of the net.

7/7 - At work, got a phone call from one of the server techies in London for a training course to say that something had happened and he was ok.

Kurt Cobain - I think i was getting into the pub after work when we heard about it. My mate was a huge fan of his, he reckoned he was going to go and buy a golf plated shot gun and do himself in as a tribute......

Senna: Dad was watching the race, I was pretty young, thought I'd give it a watch. Didn't know anything about him at the time, was a weird thing to see.

Diana: Woke up, was annoyed that there was no cartoons on that day. Every channel showing the same pointless no information news to scrape viewers.

9/11: Bunked off school early, got home and saw it on the TV, unbelievable stuff at the time. Everyone glued to the news wondering what would happen. Horrible sights.

7/7: On these forums, in a uni computer lab I believe.

Jacko: Pub last night, Sky news was on. Jokes were said and then we didn't think much more about it.

Diana - On holiday in Turkey, was at Breakfast and the hotel rep walked by and said she had heard it on the radio.

Wierd, me too.
Marmaris I think.
i remember going to have a nap, then waking up and my parents wern't there. Wen't out and found them sitting round a TV.

All the restaurants in the area had their Union Jacks at half mast.

Challenger - watching Newsround
Diana - woke up went to front room saw dad watching the news though "meh" and got some toast :)
11/9/2001 - was working during my uni hols painting rooms in the school my mum worked at, the dumb ass caretaker said "have you heard? Saddam Hussain has attacked America":D
Senna - Sat watching the TV after the race, I seem to remember just after they announced his death there was a Coca Cola advert "da da da da da da....always coca cola" one, I always think of that advert when I hear about Senna now.

Diana: Woke up, got ready for school and caught the news on GMTV. Told my mum and she didn't believe me..

Senna - I was on holiday in Majorica at the time, i remember seeing it on TV

Freddie Mercury - I was sitting on a chair with some headphones on and my mum bought the newspaper in to show me.

Sinatra - I was watching telly in our living room

Diana - I woke up in the morning and went to my gran and grandads to find out

9/11 - That was my 'day off' 6th form. Unfortunately i was one of the people who got to see the thing happen from start to finish :( I spent the next day in the most arkward english lesson ever, as our teacher was from New York, and her brother was one of the few air ambulance pilots active on that day. She couldnt get through to them.

Sadam Hussein - I was at home on my bed

Queen Mother - Home on my bed.

MJ - got a txt from a friend last night that he had taken ill.

I remember hearing Prince Diana had perished in a car accident, heard about it on the way to work.

I remember hearing about the twin towers, was driving at the time.

Micheal Jackson when i woke up this morning

Diana - On holiday in Majorca, remember waking up to hear about it on the radio my parents were listening to.

Queen Mother - At one of the iSeries LAN parties. I think I went "oh."

9/11 - Sitting in my bedroom with a friend, who was freaking out about it, it took me a while to really understand what was going on.

Challenger - At work, didn't hear til I got home.

MJ - In bed. My flatmate woke me up to tell me about it. I was kindof underwhelmed, to be fair, and promptly rolled over and went back to sleep. RIP anyhow.

It was a weekend morning when the news broke wasn't it?

Yep. I was a paper boy and was up at 5am on the Sunday morning.

I ended up seeng the news and going home to wake my parents up to tell them. My Mum balled (needlessly) then they cancelled all the scheduled premiership games for that afternoon...I was MIGHTY annoyed.

911 - On the last plain home from Tenerife for a while, my poor Mum was so glad when I phoned her after landing, thought I was still clueless.

MJ - Saving a dude's life who'd just been stabbed by a flat-bed screwdriver four times, when the copper besides me tell us all he's had some bad news over the radio, we all wet ourselves laughing.

Princess Diana, I was up to watch TV in the morning, but then all the news coverage started, I told my mum, she was on the toilet. Then she started crying and I went outside to play.

Twin Towers....I was in a History lesson at the time it happened, then a games lessons, then I found out when I got home.

MJ....Er, I was having sex and got a text which later turned out to be an MJ joke.

 That's a bit of a shocker, I doubt that's one thing you'll forget in a hurry - let alone the news about MJ!

Princess Diana - I was working at Glasgow Green in preperation for the Gig On The Green concert when I spotted a woman in tears, I asked if she was okay and she told me about Diana. She then got even more upset when she realised I didn't give a hoot.

Twin Towers - I was actually at work when one of the lads informed me that a plane had hit and I thought he meant a micro-light and didn't bother too much. It was only when he then said that a second plane had hit the other tower that I took a look at the TV and remained there until work finished. The quietest day at work I've ever had, everyone seemed to be too busy watching the fire on TV to light any of their own.

Twin Towers - we were out getting a pair of rats for our daughter and the lady on the shop asked us if we had heard that a plane had hit one of the towers. When we got back to the car and turned on the radio, the second one had fallen too.

Diana - IIRC this was a Sunday morning and we had got up late as we had been out the evening before, so one of the kids woke us to tell us.

Elvis - in bed and I cried my eyes out as I was / am a massive fan. This is one guy I would love to have met.

London Bombings - on my way back from the GP's in the car and heard that something was going on in London on the radio. When I got home there was still no proper reports yet just a load of stuff about disruptions on the tube etc.

Space shuttle - gob smacked watching it on the news at home with my Mum and I couldn't take my eyes off it as I found it so shocking.

Diana: I was playing forts with sofa cushions and BB guns with my friend and his mum burst in going omg.

Twin Towers: I was walking out of college (A-level) and heard someone mention it. My mum picked me up and we went back and whacked on sky news to see the devastation.

MJ: Driving back from a Job in Tullamore towards Dublin, heard on dodgy Irish radio that something had happened. Got back to Crowne Plaza in Dublin to see all of the plasma's in the foyer showing sky "breaking news" that he was in a coma/had died.
