I just finished a 3 year degree at uni and am due to start a conversion course at college of law in september. As a student living alone, i'm exempt from paying council tax. However, the student status thing says my course ends in June. And so, they only gave me an exemption until then. College of law says they can't issue such a form until august. Does this mean I have to pay the council tax in between this period? Even though i'm still going to be a student with the only break being that of summer?

during that break you're not a student... so yes you need to pay a months council tax

Well, have a word with the council and explain the situation, given that it's only a month they may let you off.
