Richdog is now the proud owner of a Panasonic TX-P50G10E (mini review inside)

I think the G15 is a bt of a redundant model to be honest, by all reports its not really any thinner than the G10, and only adds DLNA and the rather rubbish Viera cast to the mix.

All I want it for is the ethernet streaming, otherwise I'd go for a G10.

Don't have a htpc or anything so want something I can be abel to stream from a nas box.

I'll see what the prices are like when it's released end of the month, if it's less than the cost of a box that'd let me stream (like the popcorn hour or WD offering) then I'll just get it.

Actually I'll get what the wife says we're having :p

Remember that the streaming is very limited in terms of what it can play though... it's not a do-it-all solution.

Ok I dutifully just went out and bought a tripod, and a copy of Constantine Blu-Ray for around £8 while I was at it. Will try some shots. :)

Don't need a do it all, as long as it plays my avi files I'm happy, not one of these people who has all these fancy file formats :p

Got a Phillips DVD player atm that's nice as you can just plug a USB pen in and it plays stuff off it.

Sorry that's what I meant lol, think they are all encoded in divx anyways, not 100% sure.

But will see anyway, got a nas sorted now just need a way to play the content :)

Guess one of those WD boxes would do.

Hi Richdog, I am owner of this great plasma too. Greetings from Czech republic. I am curios, how is your picture settings. I am owner of thi plasma for about one month, and i am still changing picture settings :-) So can you write here numbers from picture setiings? Yesterday i changed rgb on my receiver /technisat digicorder HD s2/ from full to limited, cause in dark scenes there is huge amount of details lost. And figured out that these settings for my picture are the best: Mode: Normal, contrast 44, Shaprness +6, Brightness +-0, Colours 33,colour mode normal, gamma 2,0, cause 2,2 is very bad. Have a nice day, i am waiting for your reply. :D

calgary, d hello to Czechorepublica! I thought 2.2 gamma was supposed to be ideal, is 2.0 much better? I'll post my settings after i've finished tweaking fully, but I had read 2.2 gamma was the ideal? :)

Try 2.0 Much, much better, more naturalistic, 2.2. is for me oversaturrated. 2.0 is briliantly naturalistic. In some reviews they recommend to change gamma to 2.0, so i tried it, and that´s right. Try it.

Well by jove cal old chap I think you ma be right... 2.0 gamma does seem to be resulting in a better and more detailed picture, especially on HD channels. I will do some experimenting ths weekend.

Oh, and I may just post some pics too... :D

Would love to see some pics, currently torn between this screen and the V10 model, which looks much the same expcept with the THX calibration mode and few other features, but costs about £450 more. You're review seems to swing it towards the G10 so thanks.

I don't know if you mentioned it, but the European version you have has superior image quality settings that aren't supported in the UK version for some reason (AVforums griped about it).

Yup I touched on that, having the EU model I get gamma control and white balance. Jokester personally i'd say don't go for the V10 it's not (imo) woprth the extra unless you REALLY need the single glass design and the THX mode.

I advise trying to source an EU model by hook or by vrook... Google may be your friend in this instance, but it may not be easy. :(
