Spec me a Zelda game

Majoras Mask is by far and away the best one! (well i liked it the most either way with all the mask collecting, some being abit pointless), OOT if also brilliant! (really showed what the n64 could do).

Get twilight princess for the cube too (none of that flapping about like a fool on the wii), i wasnt a fan of windwaker either (too much sailing about like a fool)

Just get them all and start playing, simpler than sifting though all our differing opinions :p

awesome! how do i go about doing this? asuming its some sort of emu..maybe i best not ask here. but surely texture packs etc aren't banned talk here?

Yeah it's emu-related so I can't really mention it, but it's pretty easy to google. Just search for Ocarina texture packs - you'll probably find my blog post about it!

Ocarina of time will never grow old. Lost count of how many times I've completed it and I'm currently at the Spirit Temple on Ocarina of Time: Masters Quest. Will be moving on to play Majoras Mask again when I finish it :)

What I'd say is get the Windwaker, as its the direct prequel of Phantom Hourglass.

If possible, get the additional gamecube disc that comes with OOT/MasterQuest/Majoras and then play that one.

OR if you fancy playing them in a sort of semi-cronological order,

If I remember the order correct:

Link to the Past
Ocarina Of Time
Majora's Mask
Twilight Princess
Wind Waker

Apart from LTTP these are all available on the gamecube if you look hard, although Twilight Princess is much easier to get hold of (and apparently runs a little better) in it's Wii rendition. (don't think LTTP was on that bonus disc...it MIGHT have been though so worth looking. There were SEVERAL bonus Zelda discs for the gamecube with different games on, given wwith different packs, so take a look around, think I have both the main ones...somewhere :))

If you can borrow a Wii, these will all run on that as well, with a gamecube controller/wavebird and memory card.

Awesome games, and I've enjoyed every one of them.
They may be a little similar, but they're all distinctly awesome.

but nearly every Mario game has something distinctly different about it.

Oh the smallest of difference.

Mario with a hat, Mario with a cat, Mario in space, Mario with no face. And why on earth does he always collect bloody Stars? Why not severed heads or something a bit gritty?

I think you've watched way too much Zero Punctuation, and fancy yourself a bit of the action.

Go and have some coffee or something, and come back then the stupidity has faded.

he doesn't collect severed heads because mario is a child's icon, not some serial killer/sick sadist weirdo. if you want something twisted and gory go play manhunt instead.

also. if you're just going to troll go do it somewhere else. this is a thread about recommending some zelda games, not going completely off topic and spouting absolute rubbish about the mario games.

make sure you play ocarina of time and the windmaker...they are both the pinacle of zelda games, the rest are not so good..well maybe twilight princess also but the phantom hourglass i did not feel was alike zelda, it didnt feel anything like zelda.....try zelda "a link to the past" on the super nintendo 16bit..so much better than the phantom hourglass if you like the 2d variant;)

ocarina of time is a game that you MUST finish and i feel so is the windmaker

All of the Game Boy Color/GBA games were excellent.

Link's Awakening is pretty underrated. :) GBA Micro is a fantastic machine and worth it for LTTP and the other GB Zelda games. :)

Yeah Oracle of Ages + Seasons were fantastic games, as was Link's Awakening DX. Minish Cap was pretty good but, for me, was one of the weaker titles in the series.

This thread has inspired me to dig out Link's Awakening DX and give it another bash. :D

Oh the smallest of difference.
GAME LOOKS SIMILAR GAME MUST PLAY THE SAME UGH DO NOT UNDERSTAND GAMEPLAY MECHANICS UGH

Mario with a hat, Mario with a cat, Mario in space, Mario with no face.
Yes, well done, Mario games feature Mario. Who would have thought?

And why on earth does he always collect bloody Stars?
Because it provides a recognisable objective point for the game? All 3d platformers use collectables in this aspect, it just happens to be stars for Mario games.

Why not severed heads or something a bit gritty?
Because I'm not an adolescent who needs gore to pretend I'm being mature?

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I've got myself a gamecube (can't afford a wii) and WW (special edition [includes OOT]) on its way.

Is there a version of MM for the game cube at all?

To be honest you might not like wind waker if its the first zelda game you are gona play.

Definitely try and play A link to the Past on the SNES, its fantastic. Starts slow and just when you think you have completed it suddenly it shows you that you havent even scratched the surface!

Ocarina of time is on the same level of greatness.

Majora's mask is usually overlooked but it is also fantastic, it has a more sinister outlook and feel to it than any other zelda game which makes it so satisfying to play.

Off topic sorry but is there a gizmo so i can play imported games on a pal nintendo 64 ?

thx jay.
