"Hitler's Stealth Fighter"

Theres a LOT of things the germans (and allies) were making that we dont quite realise. Had the germans another 18 months of war they would have most definitely won, the skies would have been there and not from that stealth bomber but their mass produced agile fighters that would run rings around our jets.

Not forgetting they were investing into a atomic bomb!
I wouldn't be surprised if the US used there research to advance there own.

Nope, the Germans would never have won the war in 18 months, they needed to concentrate on either attacking the Atlantic or Russians, not both was never going to work in memory of man.

Well never seen that before let alone heard about its stealthiness. Quite amazing work for WW2. Aren't there stories that the Nazis almost had a nuke working?

About 70% of the technology we have today is built ontop on the work of German scientists who were "liberated" by the US towards or at the end of the war...

Their research was quite far along... if it wasn't for the work of a couple of small bands of men who sucessfully managed to sabotage the german efforts repeatedly delaying them enough that the war ended.

As an aviation nut I have seen photos of these before, though not sure about the stealth aspect of it ... looks wicked

...remember a level on Return to Castle Wolfenstein where something similar takes off from an airfield :)

cheers for the linky OP, shall try to catch this

I'd forgotten that - yeah theres a massive valley map with an airbase and IIRC you come out of a hole high up in the hillside above it just as one of these things is taking off.

The research for a nuclear bomb you mean?

What groups of men are we talking about? The SOE? Genuinely interested about this kind of stuff. WW2 just enthralls me all the way. :)

Before this post, did anyone even know this existed?

Actually yes i did.

The creation of the plane itself was down to do Göring initiating the 3x1000 program in which design proposals would be submitted for the production of a bomber that was capable of carrying a 1,000 kg, Cargo load over 1,000 km at 1,000 km/h.

The flying wing design wasn't anything anything to do with it's potential applications to stealth, it was mainly for aerodynamicity or whatever.

Yes i was into a lot of ww2 stuff when i was younger whether it was morbid fascination or geeky interest is not something i have ever figured out.
