Got my degree marks today

It varies from university to university, most of my lecturers went to oxbridge and have published several books. With law there is a universal standard everyone must complete to even be able to qualify to become a solicitor.

Still theres no need to put someone else down because of their university, a lot of people would give their right arm to be in the same position and no matter where its still a great achievement.

well done mate, at least you finished, knew a load who dropped out, i've no idea what i got, and i graduated last year :S all i know it i didn't get honours >.>

as in you made a mess of it all?

normally you can get 1st, 2:1, 2:2, 3rd class honours - if you've been a bit lazy then you can also get a non honours degree which is below a 3rd - presumably this is what you're talking about?

Speaking of physics at Imperial.. I got a 1st in that :)

I'm now awaiting to be showered with jobs!! hehe :D

Good point mrn,

I haven't really decided yet but after yesterday's drama, im feeling tempted by a PHD, but I still feel that the only reason I'm doing it would be because I don't want to work lol

you keep telling yourself that UCL *IS* better than Imperial (find a happy place) :)

UCL have ranked higher than Imperial in the past, it's easy to ignore though isn't it:)

i was waiting for that :-)

anyway good luck with you MBA, I'm sure you'll make a great managment consultant lol

(ever thought of doing a real Degree - like Physics? Imperial would be a good place to do this, LSE hmmm, I'm thinking not so much - funny place to do business related course, Imperial is not known for it's Business degree's, it's a Technical University that specialises in Physical Sciences... so well done you in turning Imperial down, maybe I should have applied to LSE to do Physics so I could turn them down...)

Physics is a real degree? Some might say a real degree is something which they can actually apply in the work place;) What job did you get after your degree, ICT related? All that education to become an admin?

I could make an excellent management (you spelt that wrong by the way) consultant however I won't ever work for anyone, i'm fully self employed and self sufficient:)

Tis around the 15k mark I've heard.

Will go in on monday, I['m still hung over from the celebrations.

You have to have formal education to do what I do

I'm sure you do....so you were required to do physics to get a job as a 'solutions architect', what does that job entail? Also you say you are self employed but work for a ftse100 company?

You should use some of your '£100k a year' to get a better keyboard;)

Also if your job title implies what I think it does, then it's some form of consultancy role, something those with business studies degrees would be aiming for.......

Oh please a Business Studies student - enough said. So i'm probably right in thinking you went to UCL first? then LSE - so I'm right you DO have a chip on your shoulder for not going to one of the TOP Uni's in the country for your first degree? thanks m8 lol

mrn, stop acting like an arse.

If people don't want to go to Imperial, that's fine - people choose their university for different reasons. My friend turned down Computer Science at Imperial for Bristol because he hated the "antisocial vibes" (his words) of the place. It just wasn't for him.

Likewise, I recently tried to convince someone to go to Bristol for Drama and they chose UEA. Fair enough, live and let live, Bristol clearly wasn't for them.

There are different reasons to go to different universities other than prestige. I know several people who turned down Oxford and Cambridge. A piece of paper is no substitute for what you want to do, and if you are good enough, you will make it where you want to be in the end.
