The minority of rider's in Brecon Beacons today, who managed to make we feel ashamed of being a rider today.

I ride regularly in pretty much all weather type's, so I like to think that I have enough experience to judge my driving pattern on different types of surface and weather pattern.
But to day whilst riding with a friend (vfr400 in undercoat white, riding with a classic BSA) it was like the every retard and village idiot seemed to be riding 600cc super bikes like they were on a race track.

The fact that really annoyed me was that in the local parking road with a ice cream truck, was that these muppets were complaining about car drivers. I'd be the first to admit that car driver do sometime misses riders on junction's. But they were verbally complaining about them not being seen when overtaking....
This really annoys the hell out of me, Firstly if your undertaking a manoeuvre on the road, such as a overtake its up to you to make sure you are seen and are telegraphing your plan's to other road users. i.e. sitting back from the car so your sat in the mirrors and using your indicators.
I followed these guys over the top passed penn-y-fan and they were sitting on the arse of the car and a van at one point, there is really no wonder that there are so many accidents during overtaking.

The next thing I noticed a lot of today was the impatience of riders today, such as trying to overtake car's that are trying to overtake each other. I don't know what happens to peoples mind's when they get on bike's but its small wonder riders have such bad names.

And my final pet peeve of the day was the number of riders going around with full racing exhausts. They come out with the usual rubbish of load exhausts saves lives's, as they rev the balls of the bikes in built up area's annoying everyone around them, And god help you when you mention having a bright colour bike and a day glow jacket would increase the chance of being viewed (Apparently in Muppet world Physics doesn't actually exist i.e. the Doppler effect, Sound directionality and the fact every car has soundproofing/ sound system..)

The worst of the lot I had the displeasure of meeting today was a 40 year old rider on a gsxr 750, who insisted on sticking to the bumper of cars, overtaking cars that where ahead of him and attempting to overtake resulting in them having to swerve to avoid him plus filtering at 60+mph on country lanes....
But the worse thing I saw was a overtake around a blind corner.....
When I got around the corner their was a people carrier full of kids with thick black lines and a driver and front passenger looking like they were going to be sick.
When I caught up with the ****, I said I like the bike, he said it was his first after passing his das last month...
How the hell can he be allowed a gsxr 750 after 1 month of riding???

I really think the need to bring in a limit like the a1 and a2 schemes of 2 years probation on a small horsepower machine, because people like this not only give the sensible riders bad names but like today he nearly either wiped out a family or at least made some orphans.

Rember guy's when your out their, there is no way you can judge or preconceive what others are doing or going to do.

Also if you want to ride like a racing driver go to a track day, their less likely to be a car full of kids coming the other way.

Well said.
I'm one of the namby-pamby safety people now and always ride considerately and with a high-viz vest.

I think I'm getting old as crazy riding didn't used to annoy me.

Aaaah, just listed pretty much everything I hate about bikers, the fact so many of them ride like retards on the road and don't see anything wrong with it.

Or when they say "Oh I only ride fast when it's on a suitable road". Which generally means a winding a-road with loads of blind corners and hills.

So you witnessed this gsxr 750 guy riding like he stole it, and when you get the chance to confront him, you say " i like your bike " ?

You would have been better telling him what you typed here...

Its the summer months isnt it, brings out all the fair weather power rangers.

Nice to know there are other bikers who resent this behavious as much as drivers do

A biker agreeing with the views of the car driver for once!

Not jumping to their defence!

Its a given that on a good day any half decent road will be swamped with bad riders thinking they have talent.

Unfortunately we are not all keyboard wielding hardmen issuing justice to wrong doers.

Unfortunately I doubt the person on the GSXR would have given a stuff.

I would have, but the guy i was riding with and one of the local members of some random chapter beat me to it.

I just reckon to "unlock" supersport's, riders hsould haveto do a wet weather test, and a compentacy test on a mixed surface road. As these two areas would show wether a rider has the skill to handle correctly a super bike.

Edit: I am now in the search for a classic v twin or a semi new royal enfield after spending the day riding with a group of guys on 1940-1960s bikes :D

comes down to the riders not "riding their own"

as you know riding in a group is the worst for not doing this, alwasy need to keep up and filtering as a group is expected.

Overtaking on a blind bend is what peeves me off too, but all the riders i seen do it get away with it, i just sit and think if that were me id defo get hit, not that i would do it.

as others have said summer months bring out the fair weather riders, i must admit im a gair weather rider too but like to take things easy and not go too craxy when im on the road.

albeit i only have a bandit 600 restricted so that is helping me :)

yeh some people like to hide behind the keyboard.

you're right, the guy on the bike probably wouldnt have listened.

if i was the op, i wouldnt be looking down on other peoples riding style, id be using all my concentration to keep myself safe

Since I started testing my cheese wire on the local country lanes bike riders have all but disappeared. I hear loads of them in the distance approaching but as the sound gets close it becomes a brief high revving scream and then silence and I’m not sure why.

Its bashing idiotic bikers who drive like cocks, hardly bashing all bikers.

Unless you're an idiot who rides like a ****, I wouldnt worry about it

Aye. I don't class myself as being in the with the group of people the OP was describing. Therefore I don't consider myself based, even though I'm a biker myself.

Dear god, those roads are difficult to drive on with a decent sports car let alone with a people carrier and complete mupptards on two wheels trying to kill themselves and families with it.

I've seen some truely epic driving today by two just as described muppets. I was driving out of Swansea along Fabian way on the sliproad that leads onto the M4. Its a very very tight left hander, so much so that anything above 40 in a normal car is suicide until you get to the straight at the top (which is why it is over a mile and a half long) Anyway, I was over taking a van just before it goes into the left hand bend as he was doing about 30 and I was going a little faster. Some power ranger on a beat up machine decided that he wanted to overtake at god know what speed, but chose to do it in the space between the van and myself. The gap at best was mere feet and had I been going faster, the biker would have been brown bread and the nightmare of watching a muppet die under the wheels of my car or under the van would be with myself and my family for many years.

Unfortunately they don't think like that do they. At the end of the day though, if you hit my car at speed, I'm not the one who is going to die.

Indeed.

I dont like "bikers".
They give people who ride motorbikes a bad name, whether its riding like a **** as mentioned in the OP, or whether its 40 year olds riding to the BMF at 40mph in matching leathers looking like a badly made sausage on the latest sportsbike.

I nearly smacked some idiot on the motorway overtaking in traffic on Friday. He was weaving in and out going far too quickly for the pace of the traffic, imo. I decided to move into the next lane, checked my mirror and had a quick glance out the window, completely missed him. Anyway, could've been worse!
