Best i7 920 air cooler (Antec 900)

I am quite aware of the good coolers such as titan fenrir for socket 1366 but want to know which best air cooler is suited for my mobo & case

I am also sick of my stock cooler as i have reseated multiple times and still get 89c at load with applying as5 various ways 2.8ghz @ 1.160v stock settings!

I7 920 CPU
Antec 900 (No side fan) Top fan on full all others on medium for noise!
Intel dx58so mobo has a different setup that regular mobos i belive

Which is the best air cooler for my setup and how much?

Id highly reccomend the thermalright ultra extreme (TRUE) probably the best air cooler ever, as long as you use it with decent fans, the antec 900 case has good airflow and the TRUE would work very well in it, ive used it on my s775 rigs and it has always cooled extremely well.

Thats the link for the standard silver nickel version that supports 1 x 120mm fan, the black version (black nickel one i have) comes with 2 sets of fan clips to support 2 fans in push/pull configuration.

if something is only £10 more etc id rather pay that to get extra cooling ie push pull does it help? anymore votes for the true?

True and Megahalems give pretty much the same temps, and are priced equally. So basically buy the one which you like lol

I love my push-pull noctua, very quiet even with the fan running full speed, and voltage regulators are included should you wish to run each fan at a lower speed.

You can get the megahalems from here and they should all fit. Its supposed to cool better than the TRUE at low fan speeds and around the same at higher fan speeds.

When I had my 900 and a TRUE, the top of the heatsink would touch the side of the case (without a sidefan). It was fine but you had to be careful when opening/shutting the case etc.

ok im very interested in the megahalem will it fit my 900 and whats the best fans and other accessories such as fitting (screws) to go with it! how much am i looking at overall?

prime stable
with a scythe juni fan

75'c after 3 hours linX too

900 - yes it will
i would get two scythe juni fans

we used it with an akasa fan and then a delta

the difference was around 8'c

which goes to show that any fans work great with the megahalem

i also have a Megahalems but in a antec 1200. gutted to see the link on here that OC now stock the coolers as i got mine from ebay at £65 with delivery.

i have mine with 1 small black antec fan on it atm and im running 4.1 with 71oC after 8hours of prime 95

all in all, id highly recommend it!!

looks like megahalem it is then - can i get another vote for the scythe juni fans? Will i need 2 get a bolting kit or does the HS on here include that? I have only ever used pushpins

When quoting temps Rich, is that on a test bed or enclosed in a case? Seem to be very good if they are indeed in a case.
