I am looking to upgrade my 8800gts 640mb, not worried about cost, thinking very seriously about this card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-087-BG&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1324 or this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-090-GW&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1324 . Are they equally as good? was thinking the bfg one would be better, going to order tonight and a new case http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-102-AN&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat= or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-157-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat= . I currently have this PSU http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-148-CM&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1103 Will that be enough to run the 295?

What resolution do you play at?

The 295 is immensly expensive and the likes of the 4870x2 or 285 are more than enough for any game in existance.

Alternatively you could go with 2 x 260's or 4890's which are equal and better than the 295 respectively, also you would end up £50+ better off.

Why not? the 4890's are cracking cards, you can get 2 for £280 and they will beat the 295 in most games.

As far as I know the 295 is basicaly a couple of 260's sandwiched together so it would be equal or bloody close to a 295.

You could go with 2 x 275's but that would push the price up.
 
Benchmarks do not equal real world performance, 4890 CF beats the 295 in a lot of games.

If you just want a card that will run stuff maxed get the 4870x2, if you want to stick with Nvidia for a completely pointless reason then get the 285.

The reason ATI are suggested so much currently is because they offer considerably better performance for the cash, the 4890 is equal to the 275 yet is about £50 cheaper, the same for the 4870x2 but the 285's have come down a lot recently.

Also yes, 2 4890's in CF are better than a 295.
 
The gtx 295 are 2 underclocked 275 in SLI basicly so XFired 4890 or SLIed 275 would be fastr than it 2 260 offer ninety odd percent of the performance for 60% of the price if you want to stay Nvidia.
 
thanks guys for all your advice, i have decided to go for the nvidia 295 and the antec 1200 case. Took me a few days to come to the decision. Thanks all for your help :)
