Ok been trying to play Arma2 and its clear that my bottle neck is the cpu
.
I've been reading the forums, google about overclocking the E2180. From what I could tell you can get away with O'clocking the E2180 to 2.7Ghz with stock cooling and voltages.
I'm a noob when it comes to overclocking, but I started off with the simple way by upping the FSB.
Results so far:
FSB 240
Multiplier x10
Everything else stock
Result: stable Temp: 50 degrees under 100% load
FSB 250
Multiplier x10
Everything else stock
Result: Posts, but windows blue screens before getting to logon screen
FSB 250
Multiplier x10
Increased stock voltage 1 notch
Result: Does not post
I've tried a selection of settings recommend by people for speeds up to 3Ghz, vlotages around 1.32 but it still will not post. Seems if I touch the voltages of the CPU it refuses to play ball.
Unfortunately I don't know about any of the other settings, like ram speed and ratios so not brave enough to change them yet, I've read the guides but still can't get my head round it.
Ideally I'd like to run at 2.8Ghz, although I see it can easily go to 3.2Ghz on stock cooling.
So, is my problem the MotherBoard or just my settings?
If anyone could give me some settings for running at 2.8ghz that would be great, although I'd require all the settings I needs, and maybe an explanation as to why I need these settings. Sorry to be so demanding, I'm sure its simple once you understand, I just need that ureaka moment!
