Okay just got back from working in Manchester, why do groups of people go in a quiet zone carriage on the train. Was shattered working all previous day / night, and this guy and group of women were gobbing away.

Was like a running commentry, with him chewing these bloody toffies.

Could not really be bothered with an argument, but why do people do it
and have you done anything about it?

Because they hate you and their only motivation in life is to make yours as horrible as possible.

Seriousely if you can convicnce yourself of that it will make the police interview 5 x easier when they ask why exactly you decided to murder a train full of people with your bare hands.

Did they definitely realise it was a quiet zone? Is it very obvious, as I've never seen one?

Reminds me of a highly embarassing time at work when everyone was silent (open plan office) for the Armistice Day two minutes and I asked my colleague a question at normal speaking voice only to realise when he didn't reply that everyone was looking down in silence. Got several foul looks deservedly. Disgraceful I know and I was ashamed, but it's not the culprits trying to be as annoying as possible, sometimes it's a momentry lack of concentration / awareness, if that makes it any more forgiveable.

I think using earphones in quiet zones is fine, as long as it's not audible to anyone else, but other than that, it should be whisper quiet

That made me feel better.

I once was in a quiet zone, then this single mother and her energetic child came on. The child screamed and cried and then insisted to run up and down the carriage, and all the mother could be bothered to do was shout and swear at him.
