Blood Bowl (Old Skool - Warhammer American Football) Coming Q1/Q2 2009

Is the Tabletop real-time? If not, then why would anyone want to play it. :p

Unlike Dawn of War which is lots of things shooting eachother, BB doesn't lend itself to RT play simply because of all the myriad of skills and tactical decisions that need to be made throughout the game. Playing anything other than Turn-based is pointless imo.
 
OK getting into this far too much that i'm now trying to breakdown the rules, th egreat thing about this game is the rules are very clear

However I think I am having a difficulty on the terminolgy of blocking.

If I am hit a player is that the same as a block - or is a block only achieved when next to a player and what is the difference between a block and hitting them?
 
I think I need to find someone who has played the original game and doesn't mind playing with me for an hour to just talk me through the scenarios I am in. I am getting it but some of the scenarios still confuse me :(
 
The manuals are great the tutorials for me were little more than place holders.

I'll be piling through the rules which should help but what I'm referring to us more the tactical positions and effect they have.
 
Sorry cant help you there... just play and learn. Been playing it all day... will be uber when they add 8 more teams and fix the bugs. :)
 
It's fine - been playing with friends and the game lends itself to learning from mistakes. Had some cracking games - the crowd going mad as you approach the touchline is just an obviously but nice touch
 
I still play a snotling team occasionaly, 'Ah' an extra d6 number of players on the field as they are to small and fast for the ref to count :D'

This game will be awesome, i used to have a game on the sega that was pretty much blood bowl, any one remember its name? I gotta go find a rom of it.
Was amazing, just watching the 16bit animation of the coach's face as he raged from a bad play ;)

I'd be happy to play you - although I ask noob questions i'm not quite as Noob as I make out :cool: Just want to get right into the bones of the game. Working my way through the Liverule book which is very good.

If we could get enough people interested who are happy to play reasonably regularly then I am happy to setup an OC league but the leagues are very much based on a number of players. So for example if I setup a league of 8 players and only 6 join it will never start :( Not sure if it needs another thread or we work off this one.

First off who is interested in particpating in an OC league.

I think a league would be viable in a month or so when more people have it, now it may be a bit premature. Take the time to practise before it starts. :D

still seems a bit pricey even for your deal and I can't really find many videos of someone just playing it ingame without it being stupidly editted or some crap music track put over it etc so unsure whether I would even like it :(

I will be buying this as soon as it hits the rainforest at the usual £22!
 
Well if you like Blood Bowl table-top verison then you will like this game. If not, you probably won't unless you like strategic turn-based stuff in general.

No fan would quibble over £8 though, £30 is do-able for this game, you will get almost unlimited hours out of it, especially when new teams are added.
 
I am really tempted for this and your offer Richdog... thats really nice of you.

I dont know whats stopping me buying this game. I think reading their forums and the bugs isnt helping!
 
There are bugs, but the only one which really tands out imo is the port connection one, and it's not a huge deal. The game really is awesome to play, I spent all weekend on it.
