Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

ggs Cav and Streeteh.

Cav, very close games again! The amount of times I ate guiles ultra was not funny! I have to learn to be a bit more patient, I rush in to try finish you off if your health is low, I try a throw or jab and eat an ultra for it. Other then that I am still learning every game, like I said not many guile players about. Still on the pad or stick? If pad, I know you will pick it up abit with the stick so I need to make sure I keep up with you.

Streeteh, I simply refuse to let you beat me with Ryu, seriously. :p

ggs guys.

Again some of those games I just literally threw away because of the pad. You may have noticed some of the combacks you made, were simply due to crappy pad flash kick timing.
I feel offended you asking me the question whether I was on pad or stick. Course it was pad :D

And btw....

Flash Explosion >>>>> Metsu Hadoken anyday :D

Good games buddy and sorry had to dash off and pick up the wife.

Lol just double checking about the pad, but yeah I was pretty sure. I gotta say, your wife needed picking up at quite a convenient time, just as you went 5-4 up. ;)

Was that the score? Seriously I didnt bother looking!
(I was actually running late as it is!)

In that case, I owe you some games.

(Notice how I am trying to avoid ojste :D)

Ojste - Will defo play you but I know it will be you who wins since I really need to get my zone play up to scratch :p

I'm up for games anytime you see me on, I also recommend having some games vs Streetehs Abel before you play ojste. Atm I'd put my money on ojste to have you off. :D

Ok still getting absolutely owned online off just about everyone. I've been trying with Sagat and Ryu - does anyone have any basic tips for them? Is it just a case of waiting for the other person to attack and then try and uppercut them or whatever?

The obvious would be; go into training mode and make sure you can at least pull of all the moves. Then it's just a matter of knowing when to use what but that comes with playing. Learn how to avoid/block all the different ultra's, eg. if you are playing Chun Li or Abel when they have their ultra on, you do not want to do a fireball. Some of the ultra's are abit tricky to block, eg Blankas. Oh and definately bring 'throw' into your game, not only to use but also to counter your opponents throw.

Tony, bring it on. :D

Never played a street fighter before (a small amount of SFII on SNES)

Liking it so far, can see why it appeals to some people.

Why do I keep doing Seismic Hammers instead of ultras as Crimson Viper? I'm looking at my thumb and to me is looks like _| _| + LB not Z + LB.

Only seem to pull of ultras 1/40 times. :(

Best option is to turn on 'inputs' in training mode. At least you'll then be able to see the correlation between what commands you think you're entering, and those that the game has actually interpreted.

Thinking about jumping on this now it has come down to quite a nice price of £17.99 for the 360.

Is it still popular on live? Read that on page ~100 in this thread that not many people are playing anymore.

Is the standard controller really that bad? Money is tight.. Am I not going to be able to have fun with the standard controller?

Cheers, will do.

Think I'm missing the second 'down' motion, but I did hit 5 times in a row in training last night going right, haven't hit it once going left yet! :(

It shouldn't be this hard on a normal pad, 90% of folk won't/shouldn't have to fork out £70-£130 for an arcade stick - unless you view it as something like Rockband/Guitar Hero - which I don't.

Lovin' Crimson Viper, getting a juggle combo down is proving difficult, 3rd hit timing is very very narrow.

EX-Thunder Knuckle is awesome, could spam it all day long.

Good time for anyone to get revenge against me if they wish, I am using the stick and struggling with it. Had about a weeks use on it, I am definately slowly 'getting there', managed to get afew games off ojste last night and thats never easy.

Ojste, your Balrog is coming along alright. I think I posted this up before but you might have missed it, check this guys INSANE balrog combos:

This was the RB4 final in manchester, the ryu player actually won though but balrog combos are mental. Just heard the most recent RB was this sunday gone and same guy who won with ryu here, won again but with akuma, using a fightpad I should add.

That Ryu was terrible, shame on the Balrog player for losing out to jumps in like that, nice execution, poor defense.

The Ryu didn't look particularly good in that game but if you see him play afew games, like through the group stages and then through the knockouts, hes really good. He won the tourny again on sunday, except with Akuma this time.

Margaret, I think the 360 scene will have softened you up :p

You getting SF4 for the PC?

Do those combos mean that the person can't get time to block?

Yes, if its timed right its unblockable, I have been at the end of it and know first hand! I had a friendly with goukifafa, beat him 1 round mind you. :p

Haven't played since May, probably won't get it on PC. :p

Been meaning to get back into it, I still enjoy watching videos of it being played though at a decent level, can't wait until Evo next month, video galore!
