Dead Space - Survival Horror is Back

How do you kill them things?

Sadly there's sections where you simply have to stasis them and shoot them as precisely as possible, if they're grouped you can take out 3 at a time with your plasma cutter. If you have a better weapon such as the force gun one shot will deal with them.

However i noticed most of the time when you encounter them there'll be an explosive barrel nearby, just grab that and use kenesis to throw it at them, kills em all and saves ammo.

Basically you just have to try and avoid shooting at them if you can, but if you have to, stasis and make every shot count.

Ah medium is easy then as if they 'get' you they still don't do much damage. Thin them out with the plasma cutter then just run up to those that are left and mash X as quickly as you can as they jump on you.

In Insane difficulty even one of them getting on you will take away a whole bar of health. If more than 5 get on you you're usually screwed. If a whole swarm gets you you die pretty much instantly, they're pretty much the most dangerous enemies in the game if they get close on Insane.

Finished it on Impossible the other day, gotta say, thats the way to play the game :D You genuinely had to worry about each shot, trying to conserve ammo and what not. Enemies are deadly like they should be, and the tension was sky high, the stasis thing became a necessity too, absolutely brilliant :) A nice clean 1000 gamerscore too.

Anyone got any tips on how to deal with the small spidery things that attack you in swarms without access to weapons other than the plasma cutter?

Playing in insane so ammo is short, don't want to waste 10 shots on them, tried stasis and stamping but they still got me.

Usually there was a red canister nearby which i just picked up and launched at them, taking them all out.

This has to be one of the best horror games since Resident Evil, their is so much variety to the combat I didn't expect it's more than awesome!

it's now up their with Mass Effect as one of the best games this gen. This just goes to show EA can make good solid games if they put their soul into it!

I just hope they make a proper sequel rather than a milking machine.

Its up there as one of the best games I've ever played. I went through it one and a half times then decided to leave it for a year and they go back to it so I dont fly through it on a second play.

I only played it once, too, on rental but I'm going to buy it again very soon as it's only £14.99 now. Thoroughly brilliant. I am looking forward to Dead Space 2.

Snap. I just bought it again for 9.99 from some small island and want to finish off the second run. It's so good there will be a 3rd run through on the hardest difficulty.

as in my fail thread, great game really surprised by how good it is :D and can be found for an absolute bargain on the high street!

Wow I bought this game for only like 12.99 and completed it 2 days ago, superb game. Well worth what I paid for it but
I didn't think it was that scary at all.

Really liked this game. Went through first time on Medium, got totally screwed with the lack of ammo :o. Did it on Easy nearly 2 times getting the maxed out and one gun trophies then the final run on Impossible, walk in the park o_O

I picked this up today for £13 odd. I've done the first two chapters, and I've got to say I'm quite impressed. Looking forward to getting more stuck in. Also, Happy Birthday to me :D

Imo this is where Dead Space shines. Insane difficulty is so utterly relentless, just like all good survival horrors should be.

It is good on "Impossible" difficulty but I'm finding it quite easy. Blazed through the first 3 chapters last night. i think its mainly because I've played it through 3 times already (this is the 4th) to get the maxed out achievement so I know pretty much where all the enemies are going to come from. The only thing you need to worry about is not letting the enemies hit you cos they kill you pretty quickly.

Still, I love this game. As I've said before a great game is one that I'll enjoy playing through more than once.

I've been replaying DOOM 3 recently and I have to say Dead Space is better, I played DOOM3 for the furst time about 3 years ago and loved it, but now...it's just no where near as atmospheric as Dead Space, you just don't get the feeling of being so completely alone.

Can't wait till I get my new 360 next week so I can play it again.
