Buying Applecare from someone other than Apple

I'm thinking about getting Applecare from a seller on non-Apple site (it's not an auction site either) as it's about £100 cheaper than buying directly from Apple. Has anyone here had any problems trying to use AC that they bought from a third party?

Hang on... AppleCare for MBP on a certain auction site is £100 delivered from the States... it's nearly £300 notes on Apple's UK store! That can't be right/legal surely?

That was my reaction too that's why I came here. But from the looks of things it's just as good as buying from Apple. I can't understand why they would put such a high price on Applecare.

They put the high price on it because people will pay it! I bought Applecare for my Mac Pro from eBay when the exchange rate was 2:1 and got it for a superb price. I didn't even get a package, just the registration code by email within a couple of hours of winning the auction. I did the same with my MobileMe subscription as well and will do the same when it comes to renew it.

I bought AppleCare for my previous MBP from the famous auction site. It activated fine and I got a letter from Apple confirming my coverage, etc.

As said above it costs so much because people will still pay it. Just like when Apple (used to) charge hundreds of pounds for 4GB RAM when you could buy the same RAM from other places for a fraction of the cost.

Sounds familiar, I've just had a mail back from a seller saying he does everything over mail. Seeing as you've had success with this type of sale I think I'm gonna do the same. Result.

Cheers!

Great find, will save a packet on getting my new MBP covered, will put some of the savings towards a MobileMe account :)

Just what he said :) A trusted seller with a good feedback score from Australia I think.

I didn't know I could do it with Mobileme, might look into that! :D
