Just over 30C in the office I work in as the air con doesn't work properly.
So I told my manager that its 30C inside and they don't believe me (I checked on my watch :) ), so I go to Homebase to get some fans, all sold out (no suprise here) but came back with a garden thermometer instead, and after 5 minutes I see it's just over 30C inside, it makes me feel sick and weak, and I dont like drinking water all the time to cool me down.

Just checked online and it seems there isn't maximum temperature in a workplace :(

This is not the same as working outside, all windows are closed and I am trapped with 20 other people, the air stinks.

Our AC at work is so cold, I nearly had to turn it up a bit today :)

I'm sure it will cool down in a few days.

reasonable/comfortable/healthy .... are what they use for a guide.

Either walk out until they provide a fan/working air con' or whimper and carry on.

ours is the same - 60 people in an office with poor airflow - just isnt on imo

new builds need aircon, something needs to be done for the rest of us

its a killer that there no law for this. the only way ive gotten out of it once is after workmate passed out from the heat. we where 2 floors underground in a boiler room grinding and welding pipes :/ safety goggles with actual puddles of sweat forming in them etc. fun few weeks!

10 people in a converted loft. Not fun.

My manager is the only employee with a laptop so he went and sat downstairs in one of the meeting rooms with the door wide open and worked down there.

Got to love the air conditioning at work. Although some people start opening the windows which doesn't help matters. Maybe they are just trying to share the cool air with you ;)

lol i work in an office which is build inside a factory, no air con, no breeze and if you open the windows all of the steel dust/paint fumed hot air cmes straight on in :p

Bah, you don't know you're born; my office is a listed building with no aircon and a corrugated steel roof. I feel like Alec Guinness in Bridge over the River Kwai......

I have some people at work that had heaters on just few weeks ago when it was very warm inside for days (skinny girls that never eat), I couldn't not believe what I saw, and yes they blew fuses twice cos of it, 3 heaters and 3 macs + some other equipment and all in 2 extension leads.

It'll be a union issue by the sounds of it bud. Maybe health and safety.

But if you're not in a union, either find someone who is or start hammering on at your manager to do something.
You're well within your rights to say "it is too hot to work" and walk out, but again they may refuse to pay you and that again would be a union issue. If you're going down that route, try and get a gathering, the management can't afford to lose several people.

You all a bunch of wusses!!
Try working in a kitchen in this weather, you will soon see that thermometer raise well into the 40's.

Thats why i left and now work in a air conditioned office :p
