Nokia has announced the Nokia 6700 classic will go on sale as a SIM-free handset in the UK earlier than expected on Friday 19 June but priced at £269, a little more that the £220 quoted at launch.

On the 19th, the Nokia 6700 will be exclusively available at the Nokia Flagship Store on Regent Street, at nokia.co.uk/shop as well as Nokia branded retail stores.

The successor to the 6300, apparently one of Nokia's most popular devices, the 6700 classic launched with the promise to "set a new benchmark for mid-range devices".

The 6700 classic boasts a 5-megapixel camera, assisted GPS navigation with Nokia Maps, and high speed data access.

It is available to pre-order at www.nokia.co.uk/6700preorder and will be available from all other operator and retail partners from Friday 26 June.

Anyone else waiting for this phone? :) Looks like the perfect upgrade from my 6120 classic.

hopefully better built than my 6220c is :p. love it but it feels like a toy

although id still rather keep the 6220 because this 6700 doesnt have the xenon

I have had a play around with one of these at work. Very nice to use. It feels lovely and solid in your hand. Actually contemplating getting one of these and selling my Blackberry 8900.

I will miss is the blackberry facebook application and would also have to get some bluetooth headphones. Wonder if the battery could last a couple of days (my blackberry does) with my usage with push email setup and music through bluetooth playback.

Also has HSDPA and HSUPA so I can connect my phone to my MacBook and get decent internet speeds.
