Anybody have a cheap or free solution of how to record telephone calls on a pc at all?

Thanks.

Need more than that Im afraid..

It is VOIP or a physical phone?
USB or a phone plugged into a modem?
Windows or Linux?

I assume VOIP, USB, Windows?

In which case andy sound recording software should be able to do it, just change the line out on the phone to be the input into the software and away you go :)

Microphone is only going to pick up one half of the conversation though isn't it? I've been looking at plug in units that connect to the phone line but they all seem to say they wont work with a pc for some reason.

I think that if you hold the microphone to the speaker on the phone, it should be able to pick up your voice too.

Unless your words are made of cotton wool.

Have an experiment and find out :)

Really don't think that using a mic in such a manner is at all a good solution :(

Was really hoping there was some way of using an old 56k modem to run the phone through and recording from that.

Im sure you can. It must be possible.

would need a bit of playuing with an d configuring with, but like I said, use the modem's output as the sound recorders input and start recording.

:)

You can get an adaptor to plug into the phoneline which has a 3.5mm jack to plug into a recordign advice. This would probably be the simplist suggestion.

I did it once with use of a modem. From what i remember you hook up the modem and configure it to start recording when the phone has been answered or when someone starts dialing. It did a great job but i was only playing around with it when i was about 14 so cant remember how to set it up
