ati 4870x2 or 285gtx

sorry I think the confusion is

PCI-E 1.0 = 1x16 lane
PCI-E 2.0 = 2x16 lane (??)

and I thought somehow the 4870x2 utilitsed the dual-lane part somehow for data transfer between the 2 GPUs

I thought I'd also read that ATI wished they'd made the 3870x2 PCI-E 2.0 ... so there must be some advantage to it ...
