I’m considering the white N97, the only thing that is putting me off this phone is what it will be like texting, I send around ~1000 messages per month, and I’m able to walk down the street texting with just one hand on my N96.

I’ve recently purchased the Nokia N86 8MP but feel it doesn’t offer much more than my current N96 and isn’t a worthy upgrade, more of a sidestep.

The best phone I’ve ever had was my N95 8GB, the moment I started using it I thought it was brilliant. I want another phone that I just love instantly like I did with the N95 8GB. I did have an iPhone but texting on it was horrible and the battery was very poor, that was hacked and using iReal Sms

I’m not really bothered about the camera, as I have a 12.1MP digital camera, I don’t care about mp3’s as I have an 2nd gen iPod touch, I just want a phone with a decent screen, that is easy to text with and has a good battery life. I do prefer the N series, but may be open to change.

What other phones currently use S60 software, I would consider changing manufactures.

Apart from the screen and keyboard, how does the N97 compare to the N86 and N96?

Many thanks

Have you thought about the E75?

Funnily enough, I have considered this handset, its slim design and messaging functionality seemed perfect, however, its reviews are poor in terms of in-call quality so I overlooked this handset.

How about the Blackberry Bold or 8900 Curve..awesome phones for texting and emailing while on the go...both have full QWERTY keyboards and are a joy to use...dont expect great camera pics from them although the 8900 is 3.2mp and the Bold is 2mp...but the bold is a 3g handset and the 8900 isnt.

The handset number should give something away here. The N86 8MP is a step up over the N96, but only in terms of camera, the wide angle lense, higher MP count and improved image processing helps a lot with photograhy. Its also smaller then the N96. Otherwise its a very similar device (as it is to the N95). If its 1 handent textting, look at the forthcomming E72, or the Nokia E52, great slim phones, great built quality and QWERTY/T9 keyboards. However with these you'll loose features, like camera and multi-media. They are both poor on those (as they are business devices). Is the QWERTY keyboard that important to loose other features for?
