New ATI cards out in less than month?

I'm just hoping that as soon as the new cards come out the prices of current ones reduce accordingly, am on the verge of buying a 4890 as it is, so if I can shave a few more quid off by waiting a while then that would be good. But how long can I wait before I get impatient......!

stop being cheap. buy the card and enjoy it during the summer

There isn't any good games out to play over the summer! ...and it's too hot to be playing games :D

So true...I was playing CoD4 last night...and boy it was just way too hot to be playing...and this was at 9pm at night...might be why the majority of titles come out towards the end of the year...so they know we will be indoors enjoying the games :D Summer should be for going out and enjoying the weather haha...

Are there many games actually using DX10 in anger? It didn't seem like there were, unless I'm out of the loop.

darn I've a GTX285 arriving tomorrow ... oh well looks like its going to stay sealed and go back under DSR:(

question though can ATI keep the prices low

if Nvidia really are not releasing any DX11 cards till next year - there will not be any competition for ATI - therefore the prices will be higher than we may expect ?

Is it true, about these cards ?

I've just hadto RMA my Asus EAH4850 512MB cos it was borked so i'll get a refund and using a mates card atm.

If its true i might keep the money and wait til the end of month for one of these baby's

Any advice ?

New release prices will undoubtedly be high as always but that will drive the prices of nvidia hardware down (and any remaining 48** series cards too). I'm avoiding taking the plunge on 2x 4890s for this in the hopes that ATI are going to release the 5870...but no sign of it yet

I'm getting more skeptical about this surely more things would be slipping out if they are only 3-4 weeks away. I thinking is good marketing to keep our money in our pocket and the 5800 a month closer to release.

Well GDDR5 prices will be lower, it being made on 40nm which will be cheaper but that depends on the yields aswell. ATI can price the new cards higher then Nvidia but within logical margins allowing them to get more market share.

Well releasing their new hardware before Windows 7 is being released might sound weird but l guess the people being paid by ATI to make those kind of decisions will probably know what is best from them :)

I had a single pcb GTX295 delivered today and returned it also under dsr when i heard about these new cards...hope to hear something solid soon.

There has been no rumours\word that ati is dropping it's pricing policy and in terms of gaining more market share they would be better off keeping these cards reasonable as well getting as many as possible swapping to them. Releasing before win7 makes sense in a way if MS have some big promotional thing about dx11 in win7 it will be better to have a card in the market to demonstrate it and for users to rave about also might help sales of both win7 and ati's cards.

Spec wise i would expect something to slip out in the next couple of weeks if it is being released in a month enough time to get the excitement up but not that long that it dies a death before the cards are out.
