Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

That seems a bit...odd.

So basically I can do ↓ ↘ ↓ → +PPP and perform the ultra...even with a 360 pad?

With a pad it would be pretty hard, the d-pad is quite small for a start. It's mainly for those using a stick, when you switch on inputs in training mode you can see exactly what you are pressing and the above inputs you quoted are sufficient for ryu's ultra.

Well I just can't figure out what to do (with cammy) when they juts decide to sit back and block as they just block whatever attack I try then counter.

a common misconception of new players is that special moves = the best moves. cammy is one of those characters that cannot rely on her specials moves on their own... she can be punished for everything on block which is why you losing out to people who just sit back and block. if you just use cannon spike/spiral or whatever they called over and over, you will just get destroyed... its the same as kens just spamming dragon punches etc.

i guess the best way to think about it is special moves = special uses... this applies to NORMALS as well.. once you learn when and why to use something it will all add to your game.

from what i've seen, cammy is an aggresive rushdown character who relys on her dive kick... i can't really tell any more since i don't use her. Go and look at some cammy tourney matches or head over to shoryuken forums to find out more information.

First time on SF in 2 months, I went on and to my surprise it felt normal and I was pasting people and fadc'ing like a mad man. :D

Defo getting it on PC me thinks

Edit; Ordered on PC for £20, will come Saturday!

Good stuff, been ages since I played you.

Edit: Double post

Is their a technique to doing FADC? Do you have to press MK/MP straight away?

Yes you press it straight away after the move, eg right after a dragon punch. It just takes a lot of practice, its not something you will pick up straight away. Go into training mode and practice it, eventually it will just click. To this day I was having trouble with the dash part on the pad, luckily I find it a lot easier with the stick.

Remember when you press mk/mp keep hold of it and dash (double fwd) to cancel out of the FA and then you are ready to land the ultra or whatever.

theres an even better way depending on your character...

the shortcut i use for ken/ryu etc. is (dragon punch into FADC):

F, D, DF (HOLD)+punch, mp+mk+F

the DF (hold) counts as the first part of the dash, and the second part counts as the final motion of dash + FA

Ok so I can't do that lol, whats Guile like as a character? Looking at some youtube vids he seems to sit back and defend more rather then stretched out in your face combos.

practice the real motion first. bear in mind some moves have to HIT before it can be canceled and some moves can;t be cancelled at all.

using ryu as an example:
fireball can be cancelled anywhere
dragon punch can only be canceled if it hits
hurricane kick can;t be canceled at all

practice the FULL motion before messing around with shortcuts so you understand what you are doing. first just try focus attack (FA) -> dash. this means you can cancel out of a FA by dashing

next try fireball -> FA. this means you can cancel a fireball into an FA... and as you previously learnt, you can then cancel that FA into a dash... hence FADC.

also note that FADCing special moves COSTS 2 BARS OF YOUR SUPER METER. make sure you set the super meter to refill/infinite in practice mode if you are going to be messing around with it

well start from square one, forget the dash for now. pick ryu, do a fireball immediately followed by an FA. keep doing it until the FA comes out... if done right your char will of course cancel into FA and will flash yellow. once you got the timing down, you can start working on your dash cancelling and applying in to other moves

When are you getting it? Can't wait to give it a whirl!

Ran the benchmark and it looks stunning.

Thats the thing that swayed me to getting it. Running the benchmark at 1920 maxed out with all detail on highest, and it runs at a constant smooth 60fps and blows away the PS3 version. I haven't preordered it but I will be in town tomorrow, it better be in stock somewhere.

Plus like you said in the other thread, fightstick set on the PC desk makes for much more comfortable SF sessions. I normally lie in bed with the joystick on my lap lol.
