*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz + Free Game

I must admit I did not take it as bashing and do thank everyone for their input advice and what not. I did decide to go for the 4.2 and you are right the only thing I may do is get e-peen bench mark scores but its something I wanted to do. I wanted to future proof my machine as much as possible to be honest and with Aion coming out I want to run multi boxes which really hammered my old CPU to be honest.

It may be a lot of money for old rope but at the end of the day I am not confident enough to try it. I know I will see a huge upgrade from my old CPU as to be honest it is a fair few years old.

It is a lot of money extra but I am happy I got what I did to be honest. And in my opinion I should not need to build a new machine for at least 3 years. Well I am hoping any way!

beware of the terrible titan fenrir soaring temperature to unbelieve 90C or over !!! I had throw my titan fenrir in the skip as it load of rubbish cpu cooler, the worse I ever seen in my life.

It's supposed to be one of the best air coolers on the market.

theoretically if i were to buy the 3.8ghz bundle, would a noctua push-pull dealy (im clued up on the gear) do a good job?
worried about noise mainly, and i was under the belief that the noctua was just as good if not better than the titan?
any input would be good

Noctua is silent at full power to me. Tis rated at 19.8dB or something at full speed (x2 cos there's 2 fans).

My temps suck though, 86 load average. :/

Just peaks over 80c for me... so what have you used as an alternative, and what are your results... It seems very common and accepted that these cpus under prolonged stress will easily top 80c...

Normal useage, even gaming, at 4ghz, the cpu rarely goes over 65c..

seems the same if not better than what other people are reporting as load temps...

Maybe but I've seen load temperatures in the 60s at 4GHz with this cooler. :/

I'm just hoping when this heatwave passes it'll drop to ~80. If so, I'll be comfortable with this speed in the long term.

Ordered the 3.8 bundle yesterday for saturday delivery - sure as hell hoping it comes as I can't wait to try it!

They are on their 3rd day (well now its Fri, technically 4days) with mine at 4ghz now so Sat seems unlikely :(:(:(

I've been given 3 different dates all 3 times I called

No idea when I will get mine, I don't want to chase them as I don't have a graphics card yet, I know if I receive it before the new DX11 cards come out it will be very hard to fight temptation to buy a new gfx card :(

We have three people building these bundles full time and we are running right on the line for shipping them out each day.

If anyone wants details on their order please post in the customer support forum and I will give you an honest ETA on when your bundle will be shipping. :)

Like I said I'm not fussed I only ordered it yesterday and in no rush to receive it. Would prefer the tech felt less under pressure so no mistakes are made :P + the long it is the closer to DX11 cards it will be!

1st post so hi everyone!

Got mine delivered Tuesday and built in on Wed (4ghz oc).

I spread a thin layer of the lapping compound with a credit card on the full surface of the cpu and then filled on the gaps on the heat sink. Ran the stress test prog that came on the USB drive for an hour yesterday and the temps were 95 max average about 90, room temp was 28 deg. Played Overlord 2 last night for a few hours and the temp never went above 55, room temp about 26deg. My room temp is normally 21deg so i don't see a problem.

My case is an Antec 900 with dust filters fitted with top fan on full and the others on low.

The titan fenrir fan that comes with this package is really loud, not noticeable when playing a game but not practical or bearable for browsing the web, stays on full blast even when i load the normal bios and the cpu temp is 30deg. I will need to look in to some sort of fan control or even a new CPU cooler.

Running windows 7 RC which is great, really fast and easy to use.

Any advise on lowering the CPU fan or replacement cooler would be welcome.
