I used to play star wars xwing vs tie fighter back in the day on pentium 2 and loved it.

Whats the newest game where you take control of a fighter in cockpit view and have dog fights in space?

Most of the star wars games I've seen recently are third person ones running around with lightsabers...

X Wing alliance is the newest Star Ware flight game, pretty old now, but still brilliant I bet.

Wonder if I-War is playable on new PCs, I'd love to see that game renderrd with EVE quality gfx.

Another vote for X-Wing Alliance, the only newer Star Wars Fighter game I can remember was Naboo Fighter? and it was terrible :(

Completed x-wing alliance the week it came out and loved it too...

That one I could replay... and would need to look at these patches, which werent out when I played it last im guessing...

I had star wars starfighter and jedi starfighter on ps2, I really enjoyed playing those. The former was certainly released on pc, and is still a good play. I really wish there was a new version for pc nice and updated with better graphics and sound though. Also I wish they'd release a new wipeout game on pc, I miss those since I don't have a ps3.

had X-Wing Alliance running on XP and server 08 not too long ago, still one of my fav games :)

There are loads of updates for it (3rd party updates) where people have re-textured a lot of the models in the game to make them look better and a little less dated. would be worth adding these if you do play it

Tie Fighter was my favorite, loved flying for the Daaaaaark siiide , didn't much like flying the Gunboats though..

The latest Star Wars flight game was incorporated into Battlefront 2, there is a rumour and a you tube video that they are doing Battlefront 3 so here's hoping.

On another note Star Wars Rebel Assault and X-Wing were the first games I played on my brand new Pentium 90, boy do i feel old :-(

Tie fighter woulf have been brilliant of they hadn't gone off with all the strange Gunboats and TIE Defenders and stuff they spoiled the hard core edge of flying about in an unshielded basic fighter.

Would be brilliant if Lucas decided to realease a new X-Wing style game or just a remake with better graphics and more units.

Agreed, a1ex2001. TIE was the best game that I have probably owned for the PC, when I think things over. It was only ever ruined by the Tau Gunboat and the TIE Defender. Gosh; I was always a fan of the Interceptor - love that ship.

I'm sure that if they released an updated version of TIE, it would launch off of the shelves faster than my imminent death on approach of a Rebel Mon Calamari cruiser.

Speaking of which, I enjoyed playing X-Wing equally as much though I missed the advanced HUD and the tracking system, it always felt a little more outdated and less polished. A-Wing + Power re-routed to engines = Whizzing over Imperial Star Destroyers with no worries... Just got to keep an eye out on your rear. :D

Episode 1 Pod Racer was an amazing game. Pitty the saves wouldnt work correctly in XP. I got about 1/2 way through a tournament then went back to it and it hadnt saved :(

There were other problems but these could be overcome (sound and graphics issues)

Still, even with all the problems/bugs with new computers and XP its still worth getting

After seeing how awesome Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2 & 3 were on the GameCube, it makes me wish there was some new games as beautiful and frustratingly difficult for the PC as well.

I quite enjoyed Star Wars: Starfighter back in the day since that was on the PC, but just didn't feel good enough.

The X-Wing vs Tie Fighter series is pretty much the only decent series, especially set during the Trilogy years and even if the games are ancient.

The spacesim bits in BF2 were pretty terrible though, and aren't in remotely the same class as Freespace 1/2, Freelancer, or even Darkstar One.
Not really a critisism of BF2, as to be fair the majority of the game isn't set in space - just I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a good space shooter.
