Yet another example of British incompetence. The South Africans at least know how to do violence properly.

It really is the worst publication in the UK. You cannot compare the UK and RSA when it comes to violent crime.

I imagine the rate of actual crime vs. recorded crime, and what counts and what doesn't count in the statistics, is far from equal amongst the countries in the table.
 
You surely cannot compare the crime rates of the UK and SA, as the majority of crimes in SA will go unreported, with their rather sparse policing. Even where they do have policing, it's rife with bribery and corruption.

I feel much less safe in Britain than I did in China, just chavs everywhere, miserable people, I hate walking past youths on the street because all they seem to live for is to harass, rob and generally ruin the lives of everyone around them.
 
Obviously SA crime's will be largely unreported - but what about the rest of the EU relative to the UK?

Is there some truth in this or is it simply DM skewing things in some way?

Your British chav would be taken apart in South Africa as would your average British lout.

To some that is good and to others that is bad.
 
Good god! Given the rather gaping chasm that is the disparity in the murder rates (circa 900 P/A vs. 20,000 P/A), it's absolutely absurd to claim that the UK's more violent than the RSA.
 
My understanding is that the UK definition of "violent" is incredibly all-embracing: for instance, if I prodded you on the lapel while arguing with you, that would count as a violent assault.

this is a joke! i lived in south africa until 3 years ago and i am 23 now, there is no way you can compare the two, in england you might be punched on a night out in town, in south africa that will be a stabbing or shooting on a night out, also remeber that most crimes commited in south africa are never reported. This is just a scare tactic by a **** paper, end of
