So the young ones dont know who Sinatra is. So what? why are you guys shocked? Sinatara is not what most young people come across.
As for comparing Elvis and MJ its pointless. The only thing for certain is that for the near future they will both still be remembered. Who knows what will happen much later.
As for MJs lack of chart success, He hasn't released anything for nearly a decade so its not surprising he is nowhere to be seen in the charts. His last album 'Invincible' sold around 8-10 million copies and was described as a flop. (hardly any promo after 1st single and silly fight with Sony). Yet when people like Justin Timberfake and his like sell 3-4 million copies he is the new king of pop.

Elvis was big in America and Japan but beyond that he was not that well regarded, certainly nothing compared to the likes of the Beatles.
Its only America ramming him down everyone throat that he has become so well known, with his death his popularity magnified due to the way he died.
Michael was probably one of the first proper international pop stars.

The only reason MJ will be perceived to be bigger than Elvis or Sinatra is because music has become more accessible as time has gone on. Without wanting to sound belittling...It's nothing to do with artistic merit but popular culture.
I didn't mean I want him to burn in hell or anything! I'm just surprised people haven't at least heard of him

I rather like the irony of Elvis's estate apparantly demanding that Junkie XL went under the name JXL for the track because they didn't want his name associated with drug taking.
Don't take this mans advice, listen to them seperately as I've never heard a good Elvis/Sinatra mashup.
Do however listen to them, while I'm not the biggest fan of either it would be remiss in the extreme not to listen to them at all as they were both fantastic artists.You can settle the debate of who is bigger out of Elvis and Michael Jackson with a simple question - "which one is known Worldwide by a single name only?".

Music evolves as do people so this is a dumb comparison to be honest, but if you want to argue the point so be it.
It can be easily argued that the birth of rock music has had a more wide reaching effect than that of pop. Michael Jackson was a master the genre, however the number of artists deriving inspiration from Elvis far outnumber that of Jackson, and as great as Jackson was, the reason he is more known is because we live in the now not then. In 200 years, I imagine that Elvis will be the better known of the two.

You've gotta apprevciate that 'pop' isn't a genre defined by a musical style as such.
Considering Michael Jackson's music was very diverse and technically crossed in to many genres that are defined by the musical style.
It was only really labled pop because of how popular his music was.
Frank Sinatra, whether you know his music you should surely recognise his name... I mean really? That is crazy...

there are certain people in history who are unique and have a gift that will probably be never seen again. Elvis and Jackson definitley drop into that catergory. If you have any interest in music at all then you need to listen to Elvis. Sinatra as well.
Jackson blows my mind when i hear the live stuff, his voice is perfect practically all of the time. as well as his unique style of singing and dancing. he was the last person of his kind to go unfortunatley as i cant see people like that coming along again.

Also the MJ generation had MTV, Cd players, and then the latter years, Internet. Elvis fans just had record players and the radio.
Slightly misleading though considering that radio and record players were much more popular back in the day. Granted not to the extent of the interweb tough
That is just so wrong, I really dont know why you think Elvis's appeal was mainly limited to Japan and the US. I really cant see how you think dying on the crapper helped to magnify his popularity either.
And as for being one of the first proper international pop stars didnt Elvis stage the first globally broadcast pop concert to over a billion people? Condescending as it sounds I think you maybe a little too young to realise how massively famous Elvis actually was.
Jackson had his time, did little of any worth in the last twenty years and only time will tell if he'll endure to the same degree Elvis has.

I'm 27 and can only name 1 Sinatra song (My Way) and i'm finding it really hard to name another.
I'm not surprised at all today's youth have not heard of him. I doubt swing can be contributed as a inspiration to a lot of todays artists.

Rats, I'd have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids.
I think it would be entertaining if nothing else.
The relative lack of choice meant that it was somewhat easier for an artist to become 'huge', now with such a large variety of choice it is easier for niche artists to carve out a career but equally that takes away from other acts that might otherwise have been even more popular in an era with less choice.
