Just watching an endless re-run of Traffic Cops on Dave and at the end they announced that a 14 year old TWOC'er was banned from driving for 3 years?

Anybody have any ideas how that works, does the ban start straight away? How can it? The guy doesn't even have a prov license yet or will it start as soon as he's passed his driving test? Suppose this last bit makes the most sense but you never tell with the justice system.

exactly, hes only going to do it again and again and again..... should have chucked him in jail.

You can't get thrown in jail purely for driving without a licence.
The ban however means that if he does it again he's contravened a court ordered sentence, thus it moves it up the sentencing scale from the area of fines etc, to potential jail time.

Basically it means that the second time the courts have much more that they can do under the guidelines they have to follow.

Also the ban takes effect the moment the court hands down the sentence from what I remember - the DVLA will create a "notional" licence entry on their database under which people with no UK licence have their offences recorded (be it because the person was under age, foreign or never applied for one).

Hasn't this changed recently for people who get a jail conviction who had a license that it used to start when they were sentanced, so a 5 year ban and a 4 year jail term would mean they can't drive for one year after release. But a victims relative (always a good opinioon to listen to) took it the goverment that it should start when they get out, so people in low security who are sentanced who arn't taken away there an then can drive home from the court house and can also drive around on day release?

I seen this, was this the one where they ditched there car in some country lane, 4 jumped out the car and there was only 1 traffic cop?
