new i7 build

Yea so I have deffinately decided on the I7 I still might take the lazy route and get overclockers to do all the work for me but im not sure yet.

I think Im pretty sure that the rest of the components will be fine It is mainly the GPU I have issues with.

Sorry, should have brought this up earlier...why the budget monitor with such a banging rig?

IMHO opinion such a sweet rig deserves a monitor like this (IPS panel).

Multiple monitors is a nice idea, but if the setup is composed of a bunch of budget TNs then it won't be as good as it should be. As always it's up to you - but I'd go for quality over quantity when monitors are concerned.

Also, that Gigabyte extreme board is not worth the £25 extra over the UD5, it just comes with some superfluous heasinks.

Well 3 monitors will be good for multitasking. Forgive my ignorance but I cannot see a huge difference in those monitors for the extra £300 all I see is that its bigger with a slightly higher res? Is there a 22" that you would recomend over the Iiyama? I just read somewhere that the Iiyama was a good monitor and that was my reasoning for choosing it.

The HP uses an IPS panel, the iiyama uses a TN panel. If you do a bit of research you will find that there is a significant difference in image quality and viewing angles between the two (IPS is significantly better). If you plan on spending this kind of money on a PC system it would be a good idea to check out which monitor type you want.

would this Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor be a better choice?

It has a lower resolution and response time but it uses IPS panel and has a better contrast ratio and viewing angles.

That monitor is awesome, got one back at home - really impressed.

If you want multi monitor - that is one of the best options around.

They are not in stock right now - but I think some new ones will be available in the week.

Are TN panels really that bad people?

They are not bad, just like a 7800GTX is not a bad graphics card (as it can do what its designed to do well) - but compared to the more advanced tech stuff it pales in comparison. If you want an appreciation of the difference, use an IPS or VA panel for an hour, then go back to a TN. You will then be able to tell the difference.

Haha cmndr_andi you are the one who got me into IPS panels and the one who is going to make me buy the HP one :D
Got to say read some reviews about it and it makes me want it even more;)

Well now is the only question is either spend some more money for 4870x2 or just go with the 4890XT...

ok so with that new monitor all that is left to decide on is the GPU. do I stick to what I have chosen? downgrade to a 285? or get 2x4890's?

After that decision Im ready to order if the monitor and cpu cooler come back in stock.
