Suppose on XP there's little choice :p in Vista I just hit the WINKEY and begin typing the first 3 letters of the app i need and BAM!

It works very well for my brain, it all makes perfect sense for me and is easily accessible, I find it hard searching for the programmes I need via the start menu as there is too much text and my brain goes into melt down :o

Pretty much, otherwise I forget certain programmes exist on my computer, I have to see them, I even save my web favourites visually as icons on a secondary screen, I think I was a goldfish in my last life :p

Have you tried Fences? Could hide them while you're not using them and have them grouped nicely together in your catagories still. Might be worth a look.
