The Samsung OmniaHD i8910 ... this NEEDS it's own thread.

I got this delivered a couple of days ago and took a few pictures, quality of which is amazing of course. When I transferred them to my PC to have a look though, the aspect was all wrong i.e landscape photos were being displayed in portrait and portrait in landscape. The images are fine on the phone, has anyone else had this problem/know of a solution??

Already been discussed in this very thread, search is quite useful :) Have a look through, it was determined to be the EXIF info being incorrect on the photos, there are a few good suggestions for EXIF strippers which will solve the problem.
Hopefullythe problem will be sorted in the upcoming update

Thanks El Gringo.

I had done a quick search, but it only gave three posts related to photos, should have looked closer!! :)

Was reading about that earlier, good news indeed!

The poor audio in videos has been my only real gripe with this phone, once this is fixed it well be damn near perfect! Still need to get hold of an XP computer to flash it though, might have to nick my sister's laptop!

As far as I know, that firmware isn't out yet, it looks to be a leaked screenshot from someone who has it, possibly a Samsung employee.

Although if I'm wrong, link please :).

The gripes I have are two clear ones, the photo resizing issue- not a good issue; and the total and utter lack of Mac support. What the hell are these people thinking?

that error is already fixed in one of the newer firmware versions ... don't ask which, because i can not remember which exact version it was, but when you will be able to update via samsung pc studio the update will surely also have the fix for that

When I did a search online I found that only orange have this phone and if you get it from them directly you have to pay £99 for the phone no matter what contract you take out with them, but it looks like if you get it from phones4you that you dont have to pay anything for the phone, is this right?

Thanks in advance.

I got mine from buymobilephones.net, £9.99 for the phone, raccoon 45 (1200 mins, unlimited landline and 500mb data) for £35 and an 18 month contract.

Sorry if it seems that I'm going on about this- I am- how the hell am I supposed to update the firmware if I only have Macs?
The PC Suite only works with Windows, do I have to trawl my friends' houses for Windows machines or will there be an update? Am I the only Mac user in this thread? :(

I really am going to have to get round to updating/debranding the firmware. I'm in the same boat as El Gringo funnily enough, I think the massive lack of Mac support today is pathetic... come on Samsung!!

To make matters worse, when I borrow my brother's XP machine, PC Studio says my phone isn't connected??? Sat here shifting pictures over bluetooth on the Mac, glad I found an EXIF Stripper that works for this though :D

Id wait a while before de-branding, ive done it and it works great but theres some new firmware due out within 7 days that fixes some bugs, namely the poor audio recording on HD video and a few other bits and pieces.
So instead of installing all your applications x2 id wait for this firmware.

Yeah, this is one of the things holding me back. Although on saying that, I haven't installed too many applications, but something I put on there has left several "ContentList" files in my photo album that I can't seem to remove

Second problem being the damage to my warranty with Orange, they're not going to support my phone if it has Polish firmware on it :p But I suppose I'm going to give in at some point :D

Ooooo big thread.

I'd like to get one of these to replace my Viewty.

Currently with Vodafone, are these only available on Orange?

Thanks (and appologies if this is a silly question)
