Inspired by another thread exposing certain people's oddities, and a conversation with a collegue, I ask you this question:

What habits have you got that are bordering on obsessive, or a light version of OCD?

If i take my socks off and will put them back on, they must go back on the feet they came off!

A friend of mine, if offered biscuits from a packet, can only take even numbers of biscuits at a time

I must skip at least one step on a flight of stairs, unless it's the first time I climb the stiars, in which case I count the stairs

A friend must organise everything on his desk perfectly, stating "if it's not a right angle, it's a wrong angle!"

a few to get the ball rolling :)

I need to walk back round the house from the drive and check I've locked the front door.

I run back upstairs, often twice to check I've switched all the plugs off.

I worry on my way to work incase I've not turned the gas on the cooker off.

Everytime we're out I'll say "did I lock the car" when I've never left it unlocked. The GF is sick of it.

:(

I used to have to cover any light sources in my room to be able to sleep, eg, standby LEDs on appliances, i'd cover with blu-tac, orange power lights on power splitters, i'd make covers for out of cardboard, or unplug everything.
the window over my door has cardboard blocking it out to help this situation

also when I sleep, if i'm with my gf, I must face away from her (has been that way since my first gf) and I must cuddle the corner of the duvet, even if it's ridiculously hot as it is now

I like stuff to be neat and organised. I don't mind if there is lots of stuff, as long as it is in place and looks visually appealing.

I'm exactly the same at work, making sure everything is presented neatly, ordered etc. I even like to use a particular scheme for Word documents, e.g. I use 14pt, bold, underline for headers and titles and 11pt for text...

I can see where your coming from, I thought about covering up all the lights in my room too, plus I prefere to sleep facing away from my GF.

I actually go back and check sometimes to be sure.

:(

Me too. I'm often late for work as I've walked all the way across the car park just to check I've not left the hand brake off or doors unlocked. I'll also check the driver and passenger door then look in the window and to see the lock light on. :p

It's always locked and I've never left the handbrake off.

if I have a bag of crisps, I must open them the right way up
and usually each crisp i will turn over to look at the other side, doritos are the worst for it, i check to see which side has more flavour >.<

im the same with the socks thing lol

If a toilet roll has been put on what i consider to be the wrong way i have to change it

Also at work when i leave for lunch i normally go at 12.30pm but I don't like leaving if my computer says its a minute or two past that i will wait till its 12.35pm but if its 12.36pm i'll wait till 12.40pm and so on lol.
now though i tend to get my email ready at 12.29pm to say "off to lunch" then as soon as it turns 12.30pm i click send, grab my bag and go lol.

i never used to be like it. There's probably lots more but i can't remember them at the moment!

I always seemingly have to go and check the door unless I actually make a mental point of ensuring the door is locked. It's ridiculous.

I do the toilet roll thing, even in other people's houses, and i'm the same with the lunch clock too, I will actively hold out till it's a rounded number, even if i've not eaten for days, I will hold out for it

Good to see i'm not the only freak out here :D

My right contact lens must be the first one in, and the first one out

My speakers must be facing me, if I adjust my seat, i must adjust the speakers so they all point at where I am, if i'm in someone else's house by myself ei parents etc, i will also adjust their system to face me where Iwill be sitting

Mine is strange and difficult to explain but mind-numbingly irritating. If I see two objects within about 1cm of each other then they have to touch together otherwise my brain will fold and die.

Example, if when moving the mouse it comes within about 1cm of the keyboard, I have to touch the keyboard with it. Or if the mouse comes within 1cm of the edge of the mat I have to move it over the edge. Or things such as lids that are only on about 8/10 of the way must be fully tightened, or the worst one, volume / tone knobs turned to about 1mm from the end.

No idea where this has come from but it's having quite an impact. People often give me funny looks when all of a sudden, mid-conversation, I get up and start handling their ornaments.

Mines pretty mental and annoying.

best way to explain it would be: If i click my fingers with my left hand I then have to do it with my right hand. Then I have to do it with my right hand first then my left hand. But because I started with my left I then have to do it with my right first.

So essentially clicking my fingers once means I end up doing it 8 times.

Also I have to have things symmetrical as much as possible.
