OCD, what's yours?

lets see
1: often wash my hands 2-3times in 5 mins.
2: if i fold lets say a large blanket it annoys me if its slightly "off". So will keep redoing it even though its almost impossible to make it perfect.
3: When loading my car up for camping i constantly readjust all of it to try and get everything in solid so it doesn't move around etc. this often means i put it in and take it out a few times.
4: air vents in the car all have to be at the same angle
5: i check my phone every 5minutes even though i can often go days without a MSG/phone call :(
6: when sorting out "air tube pods" at work i HAVE to have all the lids one way.

etc etc. small case or mild? lol :o

Mine is strange and difficult to explain but mind-numbingly irritating. If I see two objects within about 1cm of each other then they have to touch together otherwise my brain will fold and die.

Example, if when moving the mouse it comes within about 1cm of the keyboard, I have to touch the keyboard with it. Or if the mouse comes within 1cm of the edge of the mat I have to move it over the edge. Or things such as lids that are only on about 8/10 of the way must be fully tightened.

No idea where this has come from but it's having quite an impact. People often give me funny looks when all of a sudden, mid-conversation, I get up and start handling their ornaments.

that;s fantastic, I too feel the need to tighten things, not had the knocking items thing though ;)

I avoid tidying because if I do, I wont's top, I used to work at GAME and spend about 2 hours sorting games into a display so they were 2 games deep, and 2 wide (essentially 4 of the same game) and carry on till I run out of pairs, then group them by publisher, and I went a bit mental and stood staring for about 20 minutes as I had one game left that had no place.

my asst manager had to take it off me and lead me away from the display

Must eat all the different foods that comes in meals in equal parts. Must must must! If I eat the chicken and there's still some roast or mash potatoes left, I will go berserk

the only one that pops to mind right now is that whenever I change the volume on the television it has to be either an even number or divisible by 5.

I have others and they all seem to be number based, although I couldn't tell you what they are until I am actually doing them :D

Custard creams and bourbon biscuits must have one side of one end nibbled off if dunking in tea, if not having with tea I have to eat one side off, then the filling then the other half.

When I was young I used to have to wash my hands a lot and a few little things like that. I found if you just stop doing it and notice how you don't die then its not toooo hard to stop (it is pretty hard lol).

Edit: As above the volume has to be equal numbers, but that's just common sense :p

If I saw someone do all these weird things "Schadenfreude" kicks in and I will have to mess with their heads :p

Had to look "schadenfreude" up , heh

Seriously though, there was a guy I worked with and he had a system and everything had to be positioned in line and exactly the same way each day, I used to move things when he wasn't looking and it drove him bonkers :D

I was told the other day by mates that I lick my lips a lot, cant say I have ever noticed but now I think about it I do

Ovelag - I do number 4 & 5 too

Just thought of another thing, not sure if it's considered OCD but i will write out a shopping list for instance and if it's not neat enough i will write it out again. i do it at work too when im writing codes on invoices to pay them.

at work if someones in trays are at an angle i have to straighten them although i only do it to people who i know wont yell at me lol.

edit: glad im not the only one about the time thing! my boss called me a freak for it but now i can assure him im not the only one lol :D

haha I like this thread

I change the toilet paper if the wrong way round

When getting up in the morning for work, if it says 0731am Il wait till 0735, dont no why but I prefer getting up on a nice round number

the air con in my car has to be set on an even number
Vents have to be same way, and if im in the car myself I pull the passenger seat forward so the seatbelt plug bits line up with my chair

The volume on the tv again has to be on an even number

Im sure theres more but thats all I can think of for now

When setting up the projector for each of the events I work at, I have to rotate the focus knob from blur to perfect to blur about 4 or 5 times until I get to the perfect position again.

I have to make sure the end of the duvet with the buttons on HAS to be at the feet end.

When leaving the flat and closing the door behind me, I always tap my pockets to make sure I have the keys, pretty useless as I have already closed the door.

All volume must be odd
Constantly wipe my lips when eating, over scared they are dirty
Carry my drinks behind me when going up stairs, fear of smashing my face off the glass
Fear of hurting/losing my fingers on car doors, use my elbow to close the door!

Other wee ones im sure, cant think now tho!

My oddity is being too laid back to care about having an oddity. If anythng, I have a little bit of an obsession with WWII ranging from 1/6 figures, 1/72 tanks, books, movies, and memorabilia.

I avoid touching anything in public toilets with my hands, and have opened doors with elbows, flcushed toilets with my feet, turned on taps with my wrists and on a very rare occasion when it gets the better of me, wait till someone comes in and catch the door to let myself out

I also must highlight text when I'm reading it off a computer screen

I NEED to know how things work, I take everything I buy apart to see how it works, from watches to cars. When I bought my first new car I called it Stephanie after the character from short circuit "No disassemble Stephanie" I took the engine apart a few days later.

i used to have to do everything the same on bpth sides of my body and sometimes still do like if i walk on a crack on a pavement, i have to do it with the other foot aswell and when i scratch a finger i have to scratch the same one on the other hand, also always have to fully fill a glass and never leave a drink unfinished, when i tidy it has to be done properly everything spotless and neat, that said i dont tidy often and feel little need to do so :p erm............. someone said about pussting socks on the same foot they came off, im the opposite, they have to go on the other foot so it's even, if i see someone do something annpying or wierd then i do it aswell (mostly in private at another time) i never like to be alone unless at home,,,, all i can think of for now

EDIT: more;

never use urinals always the cubicle if possible, can feel uneasy when i dont know the time unless on holiday

EDIT no2: yet more;

always chewing on something be it gum fingernails, tongue (i do actually bite my tongue and have taken of a fair chunk before now, managed to fill my cupped hands with blood (watered down with spit probably)) also find it hard to sleep without noise in the background and get agitated in silence unless in an exam or summin and have to concentrate.............. im wierder than i first thought...............

EDIT no3 last one (i hope)

whenever i read a book i will very rarely actually assign any of the characters faces but will always see the story through the eyes of the main chartacter at that point

I check my door about 15 times before i go to bed..

This. Have to give the handle a push - several times - to make sure it's locked. Don't care about windows, but the door absolutely must be locked. I've had to have screws fitted into the handle because I broke it once. :o

I must cuddle the corner of the duvet, even if it's ridiculously hot as it is now

I've found myself doing this more and more recently. Dunno why.
