I moved house a few days ago and decided to bring a small clock from home. I cannot stand the ticking and last night had to remove the battery as it was driving me crazy.

Is it just me who can't stand the constant ticking of a clock at night?

I'm the same, I can hear my wrist watch ticking from the other side of the room in the night. I have to wrap it in a sock and bury it in the drawer to silence it.

I'm the same, refuse to have noises like that, girlfriend likes sleeping with fans on as the cinstant drone is soothing to her, it aggitates me lol

No you aren't the only one, I can't stand anything that makes a noise in intervals like a clock, drives me especially crazy when trying to sleep.

the new missus commented on the HTPC fan in the attic last night.

I had to trip the switch for the entire house just to turn it off!

Considering getting rid of her.

I'm sure I'd be lead to murder in some form of somnambulism as a result of clocks ticking. Can't flipping stand 'em!

There could be WW3 going on outside, sirens, bangs, horns anything - and sleep through it, a ticking clock and it's game over!

I can't sleep with ticking clocks either, but many noises make it hard for me to sleep.
Having my pc on in the background doesn't bother me, but hearing the waterfall by the pond in the garden drives me nuts!

I can sleep fine with a fan on full speed or my computer. I think its just the repeated clicking noise of a clock, just before i took the battery out i imagined having a drop of water constantly dripping on my head. Same sort of thing with the clock!

Yep, it's just the repetitive mechanical sound that does it. I could listen to the waterfall mentioned above, heavy rain, thunderstorms etc.. and still fall asleep. However that seemingly subtle and persistent tick that builds to a deafening crescendo won't hunt. No Monsignor no.

Blimey, I've yet to actually meet anybody in real life that gets annoyed by this but I suppose it's reassuring that there are others out there haha!

Freaks :O

I cant understand people that have to "try" to get to sleep or those that get worked up by a tick-tock-clock.

If you have to try and go to sleep then you dont need to sleep

I tried to understand your logic, then I noticed the idiocy in your sig.

Function well on 2 hours sleep a night? Funny, I got 5 rather poor hours sleep last night and today I'm irritable, I can't concentrate and I look like a bag of *****. Hmm, might need to get some more sleep methinks.

This. Some girls I know take an hour or so to get to sleep. I try for about 15 minutes or so. If by then i'm not asleep, I figure there's no point in just wasting time in bed so might as well go do something useful :p
