Ticking clocks

tick tick tick tick !

did i scare you ? :)

Yes you definately need to sort out your sleeping pattern, its making you crazy

I can't stand it either, luckily I usualy leave my watch downstairs so not a problem.

Oddly I can sleep with a fan going and PC on but that ticking just grates at me.

I moved house a few days ago and decided to bring a small clock from home. I cannot stand the ticking and last night had to remove the battery as it was driving me crazy.

Is it just me who can't stand the constant ticking of a clock at night?

Same. I bought a cheap alarm clock from Argos for under a tenner that doesn't tick.

Freaks :O

I cant understand people that have to "try" to get to sleep or those that get worked up by a tick-tock-clock.

If you have to try and go to sleep then you dont need to sleep

Body clock gets mangled up when after a saturday night out you dont go to bed until 7am then get up at 11am. Trying to then sleep at 11pm to get up at 7am isnt easy.

Now at work feeling quite tired but still better than yesterday!

I need silence and pitch black darkness to sleep.

My boyf's mum and dad have a grandfather clock - I could not have one of those things either!!! It chimes EVERY 15mins! That would do my head in...

Any clock in a bedroom gets moved or its batteries taken out.

BB x

it annoys the hell out of me..
But can sleep with music on. It's very odd what the brain can filter out, and what it can't.
Bouncing balls and people chatting has to be the worst for sleeping.

Edit- dear god I need a new keyboard. It's missing have the letters out.

I hate it, last time I stayed at my Dad's I had to remove the batteries from the clocks that were in the room.

Yup, the same as a dripping tap in the kitchen as if it's right next to me. I have to get up and turn it off properly.
Clocks drive me up the wall too, I've got a digital one in the bedroom, silent as a mouse. :D

I also absolutely hate ticking when im trying to sleep, I end up making some kind of rhythm in my head to the ticks.. does my head in! lol

I have done that many, many times.

Gave up in the end and splashed out on a Digital DAB clock radio thing :D

i hate the sound of ticking clocks, when i was younger and we used to holiday at my grandparents all you could hear after about 11pm was the sound of the ticking clock in the hallway. i'd often be up till 3-4am until i just couldn't stay up any longer. it drives me freaking MAD!!!

I have quite a loud one here, but it didn't come to uni with me so I'll probably find it annoying now. The battery has died and I don't know if I shall replace it :D

Irregular sounds are worse in general I find. The "best" is like a quiet fan noise, not very low, basically a quiet computer left on! I'd purposely leave it on some nights as this quiet sound sort of covers any small clicking sounds the house can make, which can stop me getting to sleep sometimes. Once I am asleep, I sleep straight through the smoke alarm though
