***The Official Nokia N97 Thread (Keep all N97 stuff in here)***

Anyone got an eta on this firmware?, I like my 97, went from a 95 to it got my 97 Tuesday, I am not much of an apple fan though I bought a 3G one last year as a present for the partner.
 
Just playing with mine, few questions I have so far...

How do you change the setting for the phone to use "LAN Access point over 3G Internet service?"

Also my facebook and weather app are playing up i think, I had facebook working now, but now every time i try to connect to it (through WLAN or through 3g internet) I get the following error "Script alert, error retrieving data, status 0"

I think this could also be the same thing with the weather app, when i try to find my location its like it cant pull any data back from the servers.

Does anyone know when the new firmware is likely to be released?
 
when orange finally stock the phone can i expect to get a better deal with them as an upgrade rather then going to phones4u (or someone else) and getting it as a new contract? i jhave been with orange for 2 18 month contracts, the latest lasting almost 2.5 years :( spending at least £40 per month, sometimes £50. i feel like i'll end up waiting for ages for orange to stock this to find they can't offer me a decent deal.

also just to confirm, is phones4u the only place that sell the white one?
 
Orange are really ****ing me off now with this phone, my contract is up in a month and they can't tell me when they will be stocking it or how much it will cost.

I'm either going to go to Voda or stick with Orange and get the Hero, which they can't tell me when they will stock it or how much it will cost :(

Hero is apparently delayed until the 21st or so, according to the website I ordered from anyways
 
Can anybody recommend a new web browser for the N97. There is not much wrong with the nokia web browser tbh, but i was just wondering if there was a better browser out there :) would be amazing if they made firefox mobile or something.

If not ill have to stick to opera mobile or something similar :) Thanks.

Opera Mini is the only real alternative atm (I actually quite like it, as the small view is really small). There will be an s60v5 version of Skyfire released soon.
 
OK, could somebody reccomend some decent *and useful* apps for the N97, what I will do is anything that people suggest I will make a list in the first post of this thread.

I will start off with a few:

MSN Live Messenger
Youtube
BBC iPlayer
Opera Mini (Web Browser)
Opera Mobile (Web Browser)
 
A few apps that i installed and finding usefull. Cant remember were i found them tho.

Google Maps
HandyWi - WIFI connection search tool ( can also provide audio alerts when wifi is found)
Shazam
GPSed - Tracks your movements via gps. You can then load them into google maps to show your route ( i find it handy for mountain bike trails that i can never find )

Will add more as i come across them.

I've just done this on my N97. I browsed the web, found an image that I wanted via Google, saved it to my N97 and then used it to upload to Facebook using the built in Facebook app.

Another box ticked.
 
Has anybody managed to get MSN live messenger working? I have it installed (MSN Live messenger for Symbian S60V5) on my N97, when I come to log in though I keep getting an error "Cannot log in at this time" its all connected up to a WLAN so should work.

Anyone else having issues?
