My new Sony CDX-GT620U car stereo - Unbelievable!

I specifically bought the unit because it offers MP3 play back... So imagine you're listening to a 1hr audio book (mp3) on the device. You're 30 mins in and stop somewhere. You get back in the car and continue listening to your track:-
1) It does not resume where you left off, but instead starts from the beginning of the track.
2) You cannot FF or REW mp3s... Yes, I can see no way of actually FF or REW an mp3 track.

(1) is forgivable, but (2) is unbelievable!

If this truly is the case I'm going to have to try sending it back!

My old Sony HU FWDed/RWDed by pressing and holding (for a second or 2!) the Next/Previous Track buttons. Was a pain though.

Tried that... No luck!

Simply cannot believe a modern car stereo with mp3 playback does not allow you to FF or REW a track! Surely I must be missing something!

AHA! Seems to be something funny with my USB stick.

Tried another one and that does (1) resume playback (2) FF/REW

The FF & REW is slow (shame it doesn't speed up) but adequate!

As for the audiobooks, might be an idea to split them into smaller chunks as it'll make it easier to find where you left off and it won't be as agonising to get back there.

Plus, you could rewire it into permanent live so you can leave it on when you turn the engine off for a few minutes.

It does seem to resume playback, when returning to the car...

It was just he first USB stick I tried that gave me no FF/REW and resume

It's just generally considered to be pretty pants, quality wise etc.

Its obviously a bit picky about the USB sticks you're using for a start

Well, my last one has lasted for 15yrs, so them be some pretty top notch pants!

I've also worked out the issue with the USB stick too I think. ie: Not really the units fault...

For £85 I'm happy with the unit :)

My Pioneer won't resume from last position when playing through USB stick although I think it may be the stick that's the issue with it not supporting /something/

It's fine from MP3 filled CDs though :p

FF/RW is eaisly done as above, hold back or fwd for 2 secs.

Steering wheel will only go next and previous track though :(
