which card(s) should I get? Im building a new rig using the I7 bundle @4.0ghz. I plan to get another 2 monitors in the future so if i go nvidia I will need another card when I get the other monitors.

so do i get the BFG GeForce GTX 285 OCX 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card (Includes Terminator Salvation PC Game) and then another one when I get the monitors?

or get the BFG GeForce GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card if so which card do I get in the future?

or do I get 2 x Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4890 Plus 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card and then just get the other monitors when I can afford them?

thanks

Only need one card out of the 3, and it's between the 285 and the single 4890.

Well that was my original thought but then I figured id get the 295 but reading the forums it doesnt seem to be worth the extra £100 unless I want to play crysis on high everything?

If I do get the 285 and wish to upgrade to a tripple monitor rig in the future should I get another 285 or could I get a lower card? or would the lower card pull the 285 down?

I also read that the 295 is essentially 2 x 275's so would it be better getting 2 of those?

If ur using just one of the three monitors for gaming (rather than using sli/crossfire and triplehead2go to game across all three) then u only need one card to be decent which would power the main monitor and then a relatively crappy one to run the 2nd and third monitors make sure they are the same make tho: i.e. nvidia with nvidia or ati with ati, dont mix as it causes driver issues!

Yes I will most likely only be using the one monitor for gameing. I have heard it can be hard to get games to run on 3 monitors. Dont really know much about triplehead2go. So atm its looking like The GTX 285 is the best buy?

single 4890. dx 11 is just around the corner...

that funny, sinse most games still having issues with directx10, i very much dout directx11 will be coming out in the next year or so.

most games still using directx9. directx10 got lots of issues in games and so need sto be stable before dx11 is released.

personally i find nvdia cards MUCH easyer to update drivers compared to ATI, ati feels much mroe budget like in the whole feel of the card and the systems you get withit.

Yes I think I would rather go with an nvidia card so that now leaves the decision between the 285 and the 295.

Are people suggesting the 285 because dx11 being around the corner? I will not be getting a dx11 card for a while once I have chosen my spec does this mean the 295 is more futureproof?

Now's the time to downgrade, get the next best card below your budget and save the rest towards a next gen card. Google BFG GeForce GTX 285 and see the huge saving from overclockers for this card, it's the smart thing to do ;)

I've just sent back a 285 under DSR

at current prices you may as well get a GTX275 - and save yourself about 60 quid for very very little performance difference

I'm getting the XFX 4870x2 which is around £240. I believe it's the second best card on the market after the GTX 295. I feel the XFX 4870x2 offers the best value.

In my view you're throwing money away to get the GTX 285 because it's so overpriced.

I'd get 1 4890, but i would get a 275 if it was like the price of the cheapest 4890, despite it's only like £20 difference.

It was a good deal on the BFG GeForce GTX 285 OCX, £60 cheaper than anywhere else and higher clock speeds too, no surprise it's now out of stock.
