I agree. A lot of them are useless.

I did one day at my placement before I was offered jobs at 3 different places that I'd interviewed for the week before. I think it was just luck.

Close to 300 applications, and only around 15 interviews in 8 months, but then I suppose wannabedamned thinks I wasn't trying hard enough. At some points I wasn't, as I was that depressed at the lack of progress I was making and at EVERY BLOODY TURN being lumped in with all the other "on JSA but won't work" crew by people like himself.

I feel it gives the person who's being forced to work for his JSA a kick up the backside and makes him realise Hold on, Rather than doing this for JUST my JSA I could be actually doing it for a living!

I feel personally that a lot of the people on Job Seekers are on it because it's free money for saying "Yes I have looked for a job" When they havent. By making them work for their JSA now for 13 weeks it's a bit of a wakeup call to start looking for work.

Yes it's bad that companies are taking advantage by sacking real work force, but generally those people will no doubt go out and get another job, Where as the people who have been unemployed for 6months arent trying very hard

You're already checked on quite intensively these days and made to attend various seminars etc that aren't just signing on. I'm not saying unpaid placements should be scrapped, just the way its done needs to looked at. There's a variety of organisations that have a placement agreement with the third parties contracted to JCP.

Its £15. What is it that they're doing at your company then? Why are they all "*****"? Do you think I'm stupid and can't see the prejudice here?

Try 1000 ;) we'll just have to ignore the people that obviously can't see outside their own bubbles.

I said, "a lot of people"

I didn't say "Everyone especially Fubsy"

Actually I noticed I said people who have been unemployed 6 months havent been trying hard lol, I meant MOST people who have been unemployed 6 months haven't been trying hard:D

I mean I'm sorry, 6 months unemployed? Is it that hard to get with an agency and temp for a bit?

Was accepted for a warehouse contract in May, they decided to remove me arbritarily without pay. Wasn't worth the hassle suing them over the amount though. I carried on searching.

Read what I said, "A lot of people"

I didn't say "Everyone especially Fubsy"

I'm sorry :o

I keep feeling the need to justify myself, as I come across a lot of people that instantly get on my back and judge me as soon as I discuss my experiences at the Job Centre.

I've been made to feel subhuman a lot of times by taxpayers (and some who I know will probably sometimes get paid cash in hand, yet still whinge at me).

Sounds like a pretty solid idea to me. What's your objection?

It doesn't help if there's little actual work available for these companies to employ people to do. What will tend to happen instead is that they will be employed for a short period then dismissed, which doesn't really help anyone.

The government is not managing to create meaningful jobs with programs like this, it should be funding infrastructure investment and the like, which creates jobs, gets money moving and provides significant long term benefits to the economy, not more pointless public sector staff and dodgy short term 'non-job promotion' schemes.
