Hey, I'm currently using HD4770 with 19" LCD 1440x900, I'm going to upgrade my monitor to LCD 23" 1920x1080, will the HD4770 be up to task? I can also add another HD4770 for crossfire configuration if needed. I hope response from users who already tried the HD4770's on this resolution.
Thanks

My system spec:
i7 920 @ 4GHz
EX58-UD5
6GB DDR3 1600
HD4770 @ 850 / 1050
WD 1TB Black
Antec 1000w

I used to have hd4850 at the same resolution as you, i think the 2 cards are comparable to an extent. do you use your pc for gaming? if you want things maxed out with full AA & AS you will be dissapointed.
using 4850 can run all games on max at that res with 4xAA on most (except crysis) so using the 4770 i think you'd get similer peformance just may have to drop the AA and AS down a bit.
With the current prices on ati's card id upgrade to a 4870 if you can, then chuck another 1 in later on..

If you use your system for watching movies etc, not involving much gaming this card will be fine

I used to run a crossfire 4830 setup (similar to 4770 just clocked much slower) with q6600 at 3.4ghz and that handled all games fine at max settings bar crysis and stalker clear sky I think. In face I posted my results up Nov. last year here.

So I'd imagine it'll perform a lot better on i7 setup with proper dual x16 PCI-E 2.0.

ive just built a system for a mate with a 4770, very capable card, plays most games at 1920-1200 at high setting and others at med. very capable card, excellent gaming card for people on a budget, even surpassing the 4850 in a few games.

You also have to remeber that this card uses GDDR5 rather than the slower GDDR3 so the smaller bus type does not hinder it.

It's worth checking games for compatiablity with 1920 x 1080 resolution as 1920 x 1200 appears to be much better supported.

As for your question, it would depend on what games you play, higher end more modern games with high settings may cause problems.

Thanks guys for your replies.

So I have 2 choices now, either add a second HD4770 and make crossfireX configuration, or get an HD4870 1GB?

I will use this monitor Samsung 2333SW and I want to be able to use 4xAA

Games I play:
Grid
Prototype
CSS
Call of Juarez 2
FarCry 2

id go with the HD4870, then add another 1 later on if needed.
I play GRID and my old 4850 @ 1920 x 1080 played great on max 8xmaa so the 4870 will be very adequate. wil play the other games without a problem too, especially if you dont want higher than 4xAA

Remember that I already have HD4770, adding another HD4770 will cost me less. I'm currently moving more toward the HD4770 crossfirex (70%), I need more confirmation going with HD4770 crossfire will be enough to play most games @ 4XAA @ 1920x1080? Most reviews show the HD4770 crossfire setup almost better than single HD4890 up to 1920x1200, but I need to know some users experiences to confirm that.

Cheers

Just read some reviews, they will offer better more reliable information on the FPS you will get than user experiences. There are plenty of reviews about for 4770 CF, like the one I linked you to.

Yeah, I have read about 4 reviews and I see the HD4770 CF is ahead the HD4890 in almost all games @ 1920x1080 so that's mean the performance I will get will be like shown in the reviews?

A 4890 would run all the games you've listed at 1920 x 1200 with 4xAA, so if 4770 CF is faster, you shouldn't have any problems, especially with the CPU that you have!

I have a single powercolor 4770 at the moment running on a far more humble setup than yours (e5200 2gb ram), for my gaming it's ok though its performance on crysis warhead is 'meh' at best.

Just peculiar that you've chosen a budget/midrange card for a fairly beefy setup- just my opinion but I'd flog the 4770 on ebay so you wouldnt loose much and put he cash towards a 4870x2- especially for the res you wish to game at.;)
