It's me again, I recently noticed a loss of performance in L4D and sure enough, it seems the 3.2 overclock I enabled in the bios profile has gone, now it's 2.5 full load.

When I try to acess the bios I get a black screen.

I have the Titan Valkryie...

Please help ;)

Just getting a black screen in the BIOS sounds very odd, tried a reset using the jumpers on the board?

There will be 2 little solder blobs on your motherboard, what you need to do is get a screwdriver (make sure all power is turned off) and touch both the blobs at the same time and hold it there for a few seconds and this will reset the bios :) id check your mobo manual for the exact location of the jumpers first.

I just got the computer brand new from Overclockers mate, really not going to tinker with it if I mess something up I will be left alone with a broken computer, no doubt they will complain if something goes wrong :p. The computer works fine generally, I have a HDTV connected via VGA if that helps.

I did manage to get to the BIOS a couple of weeks ago, to set the OCUK profile, which seems to have reset itself..

What motherboard do you have? Resetting the bios is very simple if you are used to installing pc hardware, it is quite safe and a standard thing to do when bios related problems occur.

Did you buy it overclocked? If so you are probably best getting in contact with ocuk.

If not then it is probably useful for you to learn how to reset the BIOS anyway. First, switch of your pc and unplug it (or use the switch on the psu if their is one), then press the power button to discharge any power still in the psu. Then take the side panel off your case. You will have to look in your motherboard manual to find the location of the BIOS jumper, it will look some like this. If it is a 3 pin like the one in the pic then move the jumper so the other pin is shorted for 10s, then replace it to the original pins. If their are just two pins with no jumper then just short them with a screw driver for 10 seconds.

Yes, I bought it overclocked, and to be honest, I bought a pre-overclocked PC so I wouldn't have to mess around with any of this, do you have any idea what the problem could be, and what the beeping means?

Well a lot of motherboards just beep once when they are turned on, doesn't mean anything unless their are multiple beeps. I've never heard of or had the problem you describe, but i imagine resetting the BIOS would fix it.

If it was overclocked when you bought it then their should be a profile you can load in the bios to get the overclock working again.

Ok, I pressed Del to go to Bios and I turned my televison off and on and when it gets back it goes to Cmos Setup utility?
What is this? Why doesn't it go the Bios screen?

Well, I managed to get it back to 3.2, I think what I did was press something in the Cmos called "load from OCUK" then I pressed save or something xD

How is that, everything ok? Games are running a hell of a lot better now btw :) The 18 fps is because it's windowed by the way xD

Mmmm, every couple of days the overclock goes randomly, I know how to change it back in the CMOS utility (which is there instead of the bios???) to the OCUK profile but anyone got any idea why it resets the profile every several boots?

It resets to stock on a boot when it thinks the overclock has failed, so you get the CPU default speed. Mine would do the same on 1 in 10 cold boots @ 333MHz FSB despite being prime stable for several hours, and despite working fine when I set it back to 333FSB. I "cured" it by clocking the FSB @ 330MHz.

I can't get to the BIOS, it takes me to the CMOS setup utility screen every time I try and go there, I was thinking it might be something to do with that.

I've sent a webnote to OCUK, i'll see what the say.

Just for future reference I was told by System support line to not connect it to the surge protector, as this can cause not enough current to flow for the overclocked parts, or something to that extent.
