Rules:
  • Each stage is standard rules, best of three matches (2/3 games of 2/3 rounds, first player to win 2 games goes through).
  • Only the loser of a match may switch characters or request a side change (1p or 2p starting position).
  • Recording matches is highly encouraged, via FRAPS or camera and hosted on youtube.
  • Only post in this thread to comment on the tournament, general SFIV discussion to go on in the official SFIV thread.
  • There is a 3 day turnaround for each set of matches (Everyone must play their set of matches by 00:00 on Sunday).
  • If you cannot play your game in the allocated time then you will be dropped for the tournament.

Everyone please make sure you have the settings down to a reasonable level which will allow for super smooth gameplay. I can run with AA and AF on but have turned them both off for online gaming.

No doubt sometimes there will be lag issues, I will make sure in my games no one else is using the internet at the time. Might be a good idea to even have a little friendly to test the connection but thats obviously between both players. Good luck all, I don't fancy my chances much, still not upto scratch with the stick but oh well. :p

Why would anyone drop his settings if he gets rock solid 60 FPS though :confused:.


Playing with people I know ( with good conns and pc's) I barely ever get lag, playing with random internet people does often mean a lot of lag though.
 
Well yeah hopefully it won't be a problem playing ppl on these forums, more so playing random ppl online. Sometimes its a solid 60fps but as soon as you do an ultra it crawls, so they obviously don't take things like that into account.
 
I dropped my res right down but still go below 60 when using Fraps (down to 50 on some stages) does removing AA and turning down other settings affect Fraps performance much?

Also, the sound doesn't record for some reason, I've tried changing the settings but no joy.

Edit: I may just use a camera to record, saves me having to compress the files too.
 
I run 800*600, characters and stages on high, shadows etc on low (not off) on my piece of crap nvidia 8600 GPU and never ever dip below 60fps.

I think RAM, CPU power and using a separate HDD make a bigger difference (lowering the res just limits the data bandwidth you need so not related to GPU power).

C2D e6600 @ 3.6GHz
6GB RAM
8600 GPU
Separate HDD for recording

I'll have another fiddle later, if not I'm just going to set SFIV to run on my TV and record that via camera.

Edit: Does this tourney have a character limit? Seems not!

Hmmm, apology necessary. Sexyskids is my steam and windows live name. Games for windows name is Rexyskids. Oops. Sorry, bad Kreeeee. Understand if I am out of the tournament for that.
